In essence, every break is a bone bruise but it doesn't sound as bad as fracture, etc. So there was not a misdiagnosis with Braham, the term is perfectly acceptable to use. The key is that it sounds like less of an issue to the layman. So we sat there hearing bone bruise thinking it wouldn't be a big deal, but the truth of the matter is there is a fracture, and he never recovered from it. It sounds like Dez doesn't want it to sound as bad as it is, so his guys have floated the bone bruise term to try and limit the concerns.
No. A bone bruise is different than a fracture. With a bone bruise there is bleeding within the bone which can only be detected with a MRI, but there is no fracture present. A bone bruise is caused by significant force, but not enough to cause a fracture. A fracture requires more force than a bone bruise. Calling a fracture a bone bruise is a deliberate misrepresentation of the injury which is exactly what Marvin Lewis did with Braham's injury.
If Dez has a tibial plateau fracture it is a more serious injury than a bone bruise and will require more time to heal even if they claim it is "hairline." Whomever is throwing that bone bruise bullshit out there is trying to pull a Marvin Lewis. They're trying to deliberately mislead people. Or they are misinformed. Possibly both.
