I don't think we need a WR right now but good point.

IF the Bengals signed 1 of those guys it would be a surprise. They typically sign aging veterans to 1 year deals.

While I'm good with signing Gilmore to save a draft pick in the secondary, what exactly makes you think that the Bengals have the slightest motivation to not only cut Adam Jones, and not re-sign Dre Kirkpatrick? I mean, I could see one or the other scenario playing out, but not both. As of now, those are the two starting CBs.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

If I'm signing a corner to 11 million per year it's aj bouye. And I'm definitely not signing stills to almost 8 million per.

Stephen Gillmore is a top 10-12 corner to me and Stills is the perfect deep threat opposite of A.J. Green and he's only 24!

Gilmore is a very solid CB and would be an upgrade.

I think there's next to no chance the Bengals give an external CB $11 million a year.

CB is so dependent on scheme and many other things. They'd rather give a guy $5-6 million a year on a 1-2 year deal.

I'd be for Gilmore...but I doubt they'd do that.

Really...any thread where people suggest Tier 1 and Tier 2 free agents...is a dream.

You know, it really would be a dream to get an impactful starter in FA at a position of need on a 3+ year deal that wasn't old, coming off a mediocre season with a former team, and/or had other question marks.

Since "the reboot" in 2011, the Bengals have most often taken the approach of using veteran outside FA just on 1-2 year stopgap deals while the draft prospects were "groomed". The problem is that this "grooming" hasn't gone very well and many of the prospects haven't become quality starters.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Generally you have to play young players to develop them.

The Bengals think you can sit them on the bench for 3 years and get a good starter when they play. It doesn't work like that.

And by the time they do play them, they are in their last 1-2 years of their contract.

I Could work with this.  Maybe sub Larry warford for warmack, though I don't know what warford is looking for.  I think stills signs more for this.  I've Taylor getting lots of love here.

But since we are dreaming lets just sign chandler jones!

Cutting MJ doesn't save $5.1m. If he gets cut, there's $2.25m in dead cap space.

So you'd save $2.875m in 2017 and $5m in 2018.

Thanks for the correction! I will fix that up.

I looked at the wrong year.

You know I just don't see the Bengals cutting 3 long time players who are still under contract.

I also don't see the Bengals paying an outside free agent corner $11M per. Just not Mikey Brown's style.

Mikey Brown will look for players who are cut and are willing to sign a "prove it" deal. "Prove it" deals are the modern day version of what we used to call the bargain bin.

The Cincinnati Bengals will sign there own players over outside free agents with that said they would sign Kirkpatrick over Gilmore. I like the idea of signing Warmack but I also think they need a starting right tackle stud veteran.

I guess we can all dream. I just wish Mikey Brown would start to dream of winning a championship.
