OK, it just came on internet as an unofficial, but kind of official report by Fox News that it looks like Royals just got Cueto.......Well, the Royals and the Pirates and Tampa suffered in last place for decades, so I love it when the small market fans catch a break. Royals already having a great year, and Cueto could win them the World Series. Good for those long suffering fans. A great baseball town of The Kansas City Monarchs and great Negro League legends not allowed in all white MLB before Mr. Jackie Robinson...I think Satchel Paige was a KC Monarch and also Buck O'Neill. ......Kansas City was such a small market door mat the last few decades, I'm happy for their fans having a good year.

Even though everyone knew it was coming and it's the best thing to do, I really hate to see him go. What a pitcher. Hope he wins a WS. I'm sure he'll do his part and then some.

Without knowing who the players involved are, I'm glad the trade didn't get done yesterday so we could see him pitch for us one more time. He's one of th best pitchers the Reds have ever had.

Finnegan is a lefty, of which i think we could use one. Lamb, not too sure of...

Edit...Lamb is a lefty, and Reds even got another lefty Cody Reed.

Got to say, i like the position the Reds focused on, being lefties. A lot of the Reds best prospects are RHP's in the minors

I like the trade, wish we could have gotten a bat in place of one of the pitchers, but:

Finnegan might be in our rotation this year.

Lamb has top of the rotation stuff, just working back from Tommy John a couple years ago.

Reed could be a great lefty specialist or 8th inning guy.

It appears as though we got a pretty decent return for him.

The Royals didn't have a ton of high profile prospects, but we got out of there with 1 top 100 prospect.

Finnegan, according to MLB.com was the 62nd ranked minor leaguer this year.

He pitched in the world series as a rookie, and while he got knocked around a bit, he did get the experience.

Zip on his fastball, regularly sitting at 93 to 95 and two good off speed pitches with a mid 80s slider and a solid change up.

I don't think he'll ever be a front end starter, but he could be a good 4 or 5, or a great set up man and possibly closer.

The best news is the Reds will have him under team control until after 2017 and arbitration eligible until after 2020. So this was a great long term investment for the Reds.

As for Lamb, he was a top prospect before Tommy John Surgery in 2011. Prior to that season, he was ranked #18 in the minors. However, he's been very productive so far this year, going 9-1 with a 2.67 ERA in 17 starts averaging 9.2 K/9 in AAA. So he's got some talent. He's got a 91 to 93 fastball with a change up and curve ball, giving him enough of a repertoire to continue as a starter in the majors.

He is a bit on the older side for a guy yet to make his MLB debut, at 25. But he has plenty of potential.

Reed, like the other two, probably tops out as a #3 or #4 starter in the majors. He's a big guy with a big arm, with his fast ball touching 97 in college. He's got an advanced curveball coming out college and a serviceable change up, but his biggest knock was control issues.

As with a lot of 6'5" guys, he has a steep downward angle on his pitches that he still adjusting to. But, while he struggled his first two years, he finally began to show improvement this year, lowering his WHIP from 1.71 in his first two years to 1.19 so far this year. He raised his K/walk from 1.41 in his first two years to 3.23 so far this year.

So his control is definitely improving. And his stuff is as terrifying as ever.

Overall, getting 3 left handed pitchers with starter potential, the top prospect of which is likely staying with the team until at least 2020.

Right now, our entire rotation is right handers (Leake, DeSclafani, Iglesias, Lorenzen) as well as Stephenson, Howard, Travieso, Crawford and Ramono in the minors. So it's good to get a nice infusion of left handed pitching talent into our farm system.

I give this trade an A+.

I've never really had lamb. Did they throw in the glaze sauce. ...I just polished off some baby back ribs, pretty good.....but not taking the World serious, I could care less if any of these dudes pitch for us in this last place 2015. .......I WILL root for KC to win the World Series, which is very possible now.

Anybody ever see footage of the 1975 World Series ?????......Cueto could be the modern day Tiant, who the Big Red Machine had much trouble against....The looking backwards during wind up, the leg kicks......oh, St Louis hates him, so imagine a Missouri World Series. KC just got the guy who could have won the Cv Young last year and just threw an 8 inning, 4 hit, shutout.....and we get some lamb, hopefully as good as Lebanon Ohio's Golden lamb.

Oh yes, we won out and got a real deal, but the truth is, the truth is.....the truth is.....Reds are cutting their payroll for Larry, Curly and Moe. We saw it coming, Reds in last place, but don't tell me this is a great trade. That smacks of Marty and Joe going the company line and saying the Reds would be better without Griffey, Foster and Collins with the new Householder, Hurdle and Cedeno, who then lost over 100 games. Can the hype, cut the corn, they dumped Cueto salary . If any of these guys we traded for, ever do anything, it will be as much a surprise to the Reds front office as the fans.

I'm reading the KC royals message boards, to see what they think, and they agree it was a win-win trade.

A lot of them were sad to see Finnegan go, as he was phenomenal as a call up last September, when he was a rookie.

But, he gave up 5 runs in one inning of game 4 in the WS, so a lot of people blamed him for losing the world series.

It sounds petty, but it also sounds like something we'd do if the same thing happened to us in a series that took all 7 games.

Many of them were upset that Reed was leaving too, as they said he was showing vast improvement and had people thinking he could be a closer or as high as a #2 starter, given his new command from changing his throwing mechanics.

I don't know if you guys read the stories, but apparently, Cueto was almost traded before his start against the Rockies. But a player failing a physical of some kind on the Royals' side halted the entire trade.

The Royals fans speculated that the player that failed the physical was Sean Manea. He's another tall fireball throwing pitcher, like Reed. Except he is the #43 overall prospect, and the Royals' #2 prospect.

He has more upside than Reed, as he is a strike out machine, but has a lot of durability issues as well, missing a big chunk of time this year with abdominal and groin strains, as well as a torn labrum prior to being drafted.

Depending on how serious his injury concerns are, I think it was probably better to get Reed, because if Manea was in the trade, he would have likely been the center piece instead of Finnegan.

I'd rather have Finnegan here to sure up the middle of our bullpen (or possibly the back of the bullpen if Chapman is traded) while maintaining him to possibly be a starter in the future. He is under team control until 2020 after all.

Now we need to get some position players of the future for Leake and Chapman and call it a day. Hopefully, in a couple of years, the Reds can be a force to be reckoned with again.

I hope Finnigan or Harrigan or Flannigan does not replace Chapman, as Irish as I am.

I'd try to hang on to Leake (he's having a slightly down year - which could lower his price) and trade Bruce, Chappy and Byrd.

If we manage to keep Leake and load up on prospects, this team could go right back to contending in 1-2 years.
