Phil Hartman.

What a shock that was.

Very talented man who was murdered by his mentally unstable wife who then killed herself.

He was one of my favorites. Still sad about that loss.

I voted Heath. However, I was shocked by the death of Dale Earnhardt. I was watching the race on TV. I was numb afterward because I didnt like him but couldn't imagine not seeing him on the track. Also, not to spark controversy, but one of the most important deaths belongs to Pat Tillman. Man, what a story. When I was in community college, I did a presentation on him. Still today, and till my death, I will always be proud of his sacrifice and service to this country. Yet, I guess some players feel its ok to trash on that memory every time the national anthem plays.

I forgot about Phil Hartman.  Another of the several SNL alumni we've lost.

Speaking of SNL, Gilda Radner was a tragic loss too.

Couple not mentioned

Fast and Furious guy getting killed in a car wreck.

One that many probably are not aware of, but the funniest man to ever take the stage: Mitch Hedberg.

I went with Prince.

But what shocked me most was Walter Payton murdered by liver disease.

Another one that caught me off gaurd was the death of Sam Kinison. This man, who was an alcoholic and got sober was killed by a drunk driver.

Then there was Ottis Reading who died in a plane crash at age 27. I always wonder what music would be like if he had lived.

Bruce Lee at 32 was a surprise. Dude was, in what appeared to be, tremendous physical condition.

Had tickets to his show here in RVA a few days prior.  I knew there was something wrong when it was cancelled a few hours before show time, with the radio report saying he was ill.  The last time he had performed here he was absolutely destroyed and unable to stand on his own, and knowing what I had seen then, I had a feeling there was a little more to it than just being sick.  Such a shame...
