Idk about 10 years. He’s 30 now. Very few can do what Brady and Brees are doing.

When I think of Dalton years from now, I will see a picture in my mind of him running out of the pocket, and throwing the ball out of bounds.

Hmm, the latest Heisman curse QB or a guy with a name I would absolutely hate to have to hear or say for years to come...ouch.

Yes, you can bring it up. It's a valid argument to make. However, I'm one of those who's willing to cut Dalton a little slack in his playoff performances considering that no QB has had a good playoff game under Merv.

What's wrong with Baker Mayfield's name?

I'll think of 60+ wins. I'll think of his comebacks vs the likes of Seattle and Green Bay. His ownage of the NFC and the AFC West.
I'll think of 5 TDs vs the Jets. His 27 games with 3+ TDs. His (Bengals record) 22 games with 300 yards. The clutch drive in Pittburgh to knock them out of the playoffs in 2012. Playing extremely well in prime-time losses to teams like Pitt and AZ. All the team records he shattered.
I'll also remember him as another player who choked under Marvin Lewis.

This.
I always thought the TV made it worse, but meeting him in person...it's extremely red.

Oof... Some harsh words from Doc. However, he makes some valid points and I kind of agree with him. I like Dalton but let's be real: he's underwhelming and needs everything around him going perfect to be a consistently great QB. I'm ready for a fresh start, provided they approach this situation with some intelligence. As I said in another thread, address the Oline in round one. No matter what. Address the QB position in round 2, preferably Josh Allen and let him sit behind Dalton for awhile. I believe Dalton has two years remaining on his deal. Let him play it out while Allen learns behind him, or perhaps trade Dalton if Allen progresses nicely.
Another Dalton thread so it took awhile for me to check it out, sorry Pat.
As long as the O-line is really taken care of i could be down with taking a QB like Allen to sit behind Andy for a year or two.
Problem is, where Allen is projected is right where we can pick up one of the best Centers in the Draft...
So, i think we should stick with Dalton, fix the trenches and he will be fine.

He has two last names, that's what!
Although, "Mayfield" isn't that common of a last name. At least I've never met any. Some of the better NFL QB's had very unique names. How many Montana's do you know? Or Marinos, Roethlisbergers, Esiasons, Unitas', Elways, Aikmans, Bledsoes, Brees', Fluties, Simms, Favres, Starrs, Moons, Tarkentons... you get the idea.
Manning, Anderson and Brady are the exceptions.

I live in Charlottesville and have seen Benkert play. He's got a hell of an arm but he's wildly innacurate. Balls that he had no business throwing

I've know a Starr family, A couple Simms families and hot sisters with the Bledsoe name.

Now that you mention it, I did have a college professor with the last name Simms... And I know a Bradshaw family too. Coincidentally, the Bradshaws have two hot 25 year-old twin daughters

I will remember the drop back, plant, and fire out of bounds plays. I will remember stat padding against the weak sisters of the NFL, and of course the predictable face planting anytime he played in a game of any magnitude.
I will also remember that the only other QB I have seen spark so much debate is one Jon Kitna...Makes sense to me.

checkmate.....you win....
A.D. is a very good QB.....I agree he's not the problem.....
it's the O-line,
lack of a quality TE
def is not good on 3rd downs....
management won't sign quality FA
but if we could trade A.D. for a 2nd & a 3rd rd pick i'd do it....then start Driscol

Rebuilding the line to me hinges on moving back into the 1st for brown, the tackle from Oklahoma, and then Billy price in the 2nd at center. Maybe pick up Boettiger and Quessenberry in the later rounds, but they are definitely not immediate impact guys. Sadly, without some real free agent help, this team can't get back to the playoffs on this draft alone.
