Marvin is Back thru 2019
(01-03-2018, 12:13 AM)Beaker Wrote: I am willing to see what happens.

Hopefully, the agreement  was that ML would have more power in choosing his assistants, what draft picks we take, and which players will play.

If he got those things as conditions of staying, I am willing to give it a little more time to see how it plays out.

I dunno. The whole Ross thing was horribly handled. It was like Marvin really wanted everyone to know he didn't want Ross and made sure it looked like he was right. Or maybe tht's just the way I took it.

And I say that as a guy who hated the pick when it was made.

So I guess jon gruden isn't coming here like we all hoped. Had Marvin lost the last two he would of got a 5 year deal

Unless increased power translates into increased coaching prowess, it's the equivalent of giving your canine control of his own leash. Entertaining to observe perhaps, but eventually you'll of tire watching him continuously go in circles.

I know there is a lot of animosity towards Marvin right now, but my mindset is, let's go win one for the guy and send him off right.

How awesome would it be to see this guy finally get Cincinnati that elusive playoff win in his final season. Hell, that is probably all the poor guy wants. Maybe he would have left by now if the players could not fumble/throw/penalize the game away. Ninja

But for reals, if the guy is going to be here for a bit longer, let's make the most of it. I'd personally rather see Marvin sent off on a good note, he's pretty much my Bengal father.

Win one for the Ol' Gipper!!!!

P.S. What if winning a playoff game was the only way to get Marvin to lose his position, but Marvin can never win one.... it's like the twilight zone in here.

If we're gonna win one for a gipper....lets hire Sam Wyche as a figure head if nothing else.

**** Mediocre Merv.  I can't believe he actually had the gall to sign the damn contract.

This only gets worse if there are no coaching changes. But it's already pretty damn bad.

Totally stunned at this news, I was really hoping that we were getting a new HC and possibly MB stepping down after the death of his brother.
How can we now expect a player that we wasted the 9th overall pick on come pout and want to play for a HC who has admitted he didn't want
Everyone is talking about what promises MB has given ML to get him to sign up but I watched Marv's presser the other day and to me it sounded like Marv was desperate to stay and MB was thinking about it, Maybe it was Marv that has given MB promises for another couple of years to build up his retirement fund.
I can just imagine the conversation during the meeting went like :-
Marv to Mike, Please can I have another contract? Please, Please? I promise you that
1, I will be named HC but you can pick the team.
2. You choose all our drafts picks.
3. you pick the plays during the game.
4 You don't need to spend a penny in free agency.
5 You can choose all my assistant coaches and I will work with who ever you want and finally.
6 I will tell everyone that none of this is your fault, you are the greatest owner in NFL history and you are desperate to win the SB next year, then I wi;ll just giggle and clap when I get a difficult question.
I've followed the Bengals since the first started showing highlights on the tv here in Scotland in 1982 but I don't know how long I can go on with this.
I have family that stay close to Vegas, maybe I will start following the Raider before there move

Did anyone else notice @Bengals retweeted Hobson about "expect changes to the coaching staff in the next few days with Lewis returning for 2 more years". ?

2 ways to interpret this:

1. Marvin now has full or has at least gained even more control and will make changes to maybe just maybe help us be successful

2. His assistants who are worth a penny will finally just leave and realize how much of a joke both he and the organization are.

**I pray that it is the #1.

Will still be a fan and watch how it plays out too.

But not from a PBS seat most likely.

Wonder who we will draft with the 1st round selection ?

Does not matter because Marvin will not play him until year 3 anyway.

That's what happens when you are the only NFL team that has the trifecta of and owner, GM, and HC who all don't need to worry about job security.  You can probably toss all the other coaches and everyone related to Mike Brown who works for the Bengals into that pot, as well.

I just... I have no words.... I need booze...lots and lots of booze. I may drink myself to black out drunk until 2020, but then again Marvin would just resign another contract. Seriously, going to party source to max out a credit card.

I don't give a damn about the draft after this load of Mikey crap. I will NOT support the Bengals in any way as long as Mike Brown is still breathing.

This video seems fitting here.....

Just change the direction of all this hate from Frank Shirley to Mike Brown

Mike Brown conceded to Marvin the ability to make halftime adjustments and removed the clause that prevent defense must be played upon gaining a two score advantage. That's why Marvin agreed to come back! Maybe he even got a big button for his desk!

That is 4 more losses to Steelers. 3 for sure we may get lucky in one game

At least we own the browns for now. Have not hit the 90’s yet but knocking on it for sure.

Thanks mike
Lol you are correctumundo, Hilarious Hilarious Sad Shocked Shocked Ninja not to mention Marvin ball and OBUEHI and FiSHER and Lord help us if they resign BODINE. 2 more years of pain. Cornerbacks 10 yard (let them drive down the field) cushion, Oh and Iloka 45 yards deep safety playing so deep he cant get into the play, Oh and dare we run reverses with Boyd who specialized and excelled in college at doing it, lets run Ross instead. Is there a law that Gio and Mixon cant be on the field at the same time? Can they play in the same quarter? Sorry IM just venting, but YUP we have more coaching incompetence to look forward to!! so buckle up !
