Things Merv SHOULD learn from the Super Bowl
#1
What are the things that Merv SHOULD have learned from this past Super Bowl that we know he most likely won't?

1) Don't be afraid to be aggressive.

2) Even if it doesn't lead to a score, you should still try to score when there's only 30 seconds left to go in the half.

3) The offensive line is probably the biggest key to having a good offense.

4) It's not the number of defensive stops that matter as much as WHEN they happen.

What else do you got?

That's why I emphasized 'SHOULD' learn.  Heck, if he just learned from his own mistakes he'd probably be a great head coach by now.

Patriots were calling timeouts with 45 seconds left in first half with Eagles inside the Pats 10 yard line- so Brady could have some time after Eagles scored.

A snowball won't melt in hell before Marv would call a timeout under similar circumstances- at the end of the second quarter or even towards the end the fourth quarter with Bengals up by 3 or less and opponent in position to kick winning or tying field goal.

If Marvin Lewis was the coach of the Eagles they would've lost be 2 scores. He kicks the FG on 4th and goal from the 1 in the first half. He also punts on 4th and 3 from midfield with 5 minutes left in the 4th. The eagles would've never seen the ball again had they punted . Marvin also never would've attempted that 46 yarder to go up 8 points. Would've taken the delay of game and tried to pin them deep.

particularly since he cut the guy we wasted a draft pick on who made the field goal.

Great job Marv  :andy:

Regardless of your desire, use what you've got. If you can change up your offense to better use the players you have, change it.

Would that decision not have been down to the Special Teams coach. Unfortunately Marv has brought Simmons back instead of kicking his arse over the stand

Let's just hope he didn't "learn" too much bout how to get your defense ready for a big game.

Looking back at our Playoffs with Merv, I don't think we have to worry about that..

I got that Starvin' Marvin will continue to do the opposite of your list and giggle about it after...

The defenses have not been the problem (not that they’ve played great). Our offense has never even cracked 20 points in any of Marv’s playoff games. Hard to beat good teams like that.
