Anybody read Lawrence Block?

I've now read the Scudder series and the Bernie Rhodenbarr series. Two movies came out of the Scudder books. "8 Million Ways to Die" which was nowhere close to the book, including being located in CA instead of NYC and "A Walk Through the Tombstones" which was pretty close. The first book I read, and my favorite is kind of a stand alone called "When the Sacred Ginmill closes". Scudder is an ex-cop off the books PI.

Bernie is a highly skilled burglar who always steps into something and has to get his way out of it. Although plenty of people are murdered it's still far more light hearted, and sometimes downright funny, than the darker Scudder series.
You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American
