I'm making an album that sounds like it was made in 1988

It's in the post-production phase.  One guy does the mastering and another guy alters the equalizer because I can mix an album but I don't know a thing about the Hz and frequencies and all that jazz.  Also, my old band's drummer was supposed to supply some synth drums for the only song that isn't done BUT heis literally insane, unmedicated wife has made his life so miserable that he can barely stay sober enough to stand past 7pm SO I have to find someone else to do them and/or do them myself.
