So when he comes back, someone will be let go? I just figured he would have to be on the roster.

I believe they have a suspended designation which allows teams to keep suspended players off their 53, so they can actually field a 53 while that player is suspended.

Not so sure that is going to be our future we might end up looking more like a passing team rather then a "AFC smash mouth running team" from the years of old. At least with the players we have now.

Thing is, was it really that much of a surprise?

Michael Johnson would be the biggest surprise to me, simply cause it's not Mr Brown's style to cut a player of his caliber this late in the Pre-Season and it would violate his ethics code of signing and getting fully paid on your contract.

Not really. He was the most picked person in this thread.

Could have something to do with OP asking for the "biggest name".

Well Shake, he really wasn't cut, now was he...… cutting him for a day with an agreement to resign him the next day for the same deal, so they could stash a couple of guys and not subject them to waivers is not really cutting him.

I was so wrong, you used me twice?  Haha...

In my defense, they are apparently re-signing him at a lesser deal so I was correct somewhat they didn't release him at a time that would have provided him a best chance to catch on somewhere else.  They knew they were bringing him back.

Agreed, and the fact that he was instantly brought back by the team just shows that those who said they'd be surprised if the Bengals truly dropped him were correct. The Bengals typically don't dump long time players this close to the season. It would've put MJ in a tough spot.

It was you, Sled and Mike M. I didn't use you twice. I wasn't rubbing your noses in it, I was just proving that not everyone thought it was a slam dunk that MJ was gone. Ironically, he's not gone, so I guess those who weren't surprised should've been?
