John Ross is a ........

I personally am not a fan of small receivers and at this point Ross seems like a bust. Hopefully he will figure it out and at least be average.

Tyreek Hill (born March 1, 1994), is an American football player for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He attended Garden City Community College, Oklahoma State University, and University of West Alabama. Hill was primarily a return specialist as a rookie, but also contributed as a wide receiver and running back, but has since become the Chiefs number one receiver, though he is still the team's punt returner. Following his rookie year, he received the nickname Cheetah as reference to his speed.

If Ross has a nickname,  I don't want to know it. Coffee

He's obviously a major disappointment. But I don't think you could accuse the offense of using him all that well either.

If you're gonna send him on 9 routes and repeatedly under throw him, maybe find other ways. Maybe get creative like KC does with Hill.

Getting creative with Ross at this point is a must ! Not only to improve the offense, hopefully, but also to build his confidence. I don't think he has any right now. Little quick outs, hook route, line him up at H back and hit him on a swing out of the backfield, bubble screens, run a flea flicker with him throwing the ball, anything to get him involved in the game plan.

He seems to be a emotional train wreck the kind of guy you have to pump up. Let's hope he can be anyways.

Of course fans hope.  But you are outside your mind if you think any fans have blind faith.  And you certainly do not see it on these forums.

Yes he's fast but he doesn't have the size or fire to go up for jump balls

use him in the slot, get him in space and utilize his speed......why is this so hard?

More Ross hate, it will never end. Dalton underthrew him twice on what could of been two more TD's last Sunday.

Had his man beat and yes he CAN go up for jump balls. Did it in college and he can do it in the NFL.

God i want this guy to play well and stop some of these rants. Whatever

First game back, scores a TD and could of scored two more, but the guy is terrible and a bust and will never amount
to anything. He is clearly our third best WR right now. I just hope he can stay healthy.

I hope you're right Nate, I hope he blows it wide open soon. Against Baltimore would do.

I think his confidence is in the sewer, I think that's what's holding him back.

I agree, doesn't help when Dalton underthrows the guy either. The interception and the other deep ball were on
Dalton, not Ross. Don't understand the Ross hate after this game, it was understandable when he was quitting on
routes. I am a Dalton supporter as you know but he needs to make those throws.

This thread wouldn't be here if Dalton did.

Ross would of had 3 TD's and a lot of yardage.

We see eye to eye on many things. On Ross, however, we probably only agree on one thing, and that is that we hope he starts to have success like he did in college. I really hope he does come alive.

On my realist side, however, I don't really expect to see that happen.

He is partially a victim of his draft position and the fact that other receivers selected after him have done so much better than he has and the team passed on many guys who really could be helping this team right now quite a bit more than Ross has.

Since none of us has a time machine to make a draft redo, we are going to have to live with Ross for at least the next two years. He still has a chance to have success. I hope he does.

I see a lot of it here actually. Complete denial. I am fine with it as it is not me. But it is fairly prevalent here

I'm with you on this Nate.  The guy was consistently open and underthrown and flat out missed on what looked like a crossing route.

I don't think he's the quality of receiver that Tyreek Hill is right now - and probably will not be as strong or explosive as Hill.

But I was encouraged by his play Sunday and have hope that he'll turn into a scary # 2 receiver - if he can stay healthy.

good player right now that is playing with a QB that plays to the opposite of his strengths.

when Eifert went down the plan the following week was have Ross absorb Eiferts targets and so forth. well Ross got hurt on that TD catch and kinda derailed the offense.
Ross needs to get into a groove with Dalton.
it comes down ti timing. even AB and Ben needed time to get in sync.

This is the crux of it......and he still keeps missing practices or is limited.....no way to find that rhythm when you aren't taking reps.  They said he looked good in practice this summer.  Missing so much time hurts him.

And with Dalton's lack of ability to hit WRs in stride along the sideline and Ross's obvious size limitations to be unable to play like a big-bodied receiver who can win jump balls, the team needs to gameplan better ways for Dalton and Ross to connect. That's going to be on posts, crosses, slants, and screens. Not go routes.

Abso-damn-lutely ocho.  Coach/scheme to their strengths.

He showed lack of effort on the pick that Andy had (it wasnt Ross' fault, just lack of effort trying to go up and get it/stop the pick from happening) and he slowed and gave up on the bomb that Andy under threw him on in the end zone. Watch the replay, you can see him act like he wasn't going to get the ball until he actually sped up on the under thrown ball. I rewatched that play 10 times and you cant convince me he didnt give up on it.

He didn't come back to try and break up the batted ball in the 2nd half either.  These are the things he must clean up.

100% this

Ross was open quite a few times on Sunday. But timing is key.
Dalton underthrew him twice on possible TDs.
But Dalton certainly has made better throws to Boyd and Green on similar routes due to, well, timing and familiarity.

Ross can get open, but if timing is off, then it's all moot point.

It is going to be hard for him to have success if Dalton and Ross's timing is off and Ross keeps getting injured.

We do agree on lots of things Chris, i just need to see this guy healthy for more than a handful of games so he can
get on the same page with Dalton to really judge him at this level. Thought he did a lot of good things last Sunday
but Dalton just missed him. Those underthrows were inexcusable when you have a Receiver with that kind of speed.

He can catch up to the ball easier than coming back to it with two cover guys draped on him. Let him outrun them.

I do agree with Ocho that we need to use Ross more on Crosses, Slants, Posts and Screens and not just go routes.

Me too, was encouraged. If he was quitting on routes and pulling up lame i would understand this thread.

However he should of scored 3 TD's but Dalton just underthrew the ball, simple as that.

Would probably play like Tyreek Hill if he had Andy Reid and the Chiefs coaching staff.
