I don't think he had the best WR's around him there at the time too. Likely his senior year would have been his best year. Why he went Pro...I don't know.

During the season the back up QBs get practically no reps with the first team offense. So when the starter goes down it is very important that his replacement get as many reps as possible to catch up and develop timing with the receivers. So maybe they just did not have the opportunity to give Savage any reps.
