He was the slowest talking, most laid back guy who maybe ever lived. And he played the greatest music. Heard my first Tom Waits songs on Ty's show. Was instantly an addict. The wesome lyrics, the multitude of sounds, and of course, the one of a kind voice. Who else has ever used a brake drum on a song? Love his "Looking for The Heart of Saturday Night" album the most. And "Blue Valentine" is killer too. Romeo is bleeding... Romeo says, "Hey man gimme a cigarette" And they all reach for their pack and Frankie lights it for him and pats him on the back Throws bottle at a milk truck And as it breaks he grabs his nuts And they all know they could be just like Romeo If they only had the guts If you've never heard the "One From The Heart" album, which is the soundtrack for the Coppola movie of the same name, you owe it to yourself to check it out. He has Crystal Gayle sing with him(she is incredible) on the album and it is mesmerizing. Also, he is one funny mofo and a helluva musician. and can't forget "Jersey Girl" or "Downtown Train."

Saw Tom Waits as an actor in a Jim Jarmusch movie before I knew him as a singer.

Tom Waits is one of my all-time favorites. Hoist That Rag, That Feel (with Keith Richards), Never Let Go, Long Way Home, Down There By the Train, Old 55, Mocking Bird, Sight for Sore Eyes.... I could go on forever.
