To top it off it is in the positions we are weakest at and needs the biggest turnaround.
We're all disappointed to say the least but lets hope for the best this upcoming season because Im sure its not going to be the last big injury we see this season(It would be nice if it was, but this is after all football)
Not all of our 1st round injured guys came into cincy with a clean bill o health, but they certainly is some bad luck around

We didn't draft for need as we passed on Haskins. We took BPA.
OK part of that post was a joke. The question is: which part.

This injury obviously sucks but at least we have a solid option in Glenn to fall back on. He had some good-even great games last season. This would have been catastrophic if this were last season and we had to go back to Ogbuehi at LT. Unfortunately, Glenn also can’t be relied on to start 16 games so making a move for some OT depth has to be done. No debating about it.
It’s just bad luck at this point. 2 years in a row we draft 2 OL that were considered to be “iron men” and they get injured before camp even starts. This kills any small hope of Glenn moving over to RT and getting Hart out of the lineup. Now Hart HAS to start (even though he’s most likely going to anyway). You’re once again betting on the rest of your guys to play above their level enough to where Hart won’t completely destroy you. Add in the fact that there’s question marks about Boling and now you might have John Jerry, someone who’s has been out of football for a year, and Westerman, a guy that the staff keeps stressing that he doesn’t “get it”, as the favorites at LG.

This team's window is closing fast. This year was going to be a huge year with this core group of players.
Is it a boost? He'll have basically a year away from football. He'll be behind where he was if he played this year.
It's just bad all the way around.
We've been getting that same boost from our 1st Round pick every year it seems.

Don't know, but I believe they have the players to make up for him if he can't go this season. The only position on the Oline I feel the least comfortable with is Bobby Hart at RT. I think they have the guards pretty much covered, but I don't feel all that inclined to jump on the Westerman bandwagon. He's had a full 4 seasons to crack the opening lineup and has failed every year since his arrival.
As of now I think if they can muddle through this season with no significant losses to injury after Williams next season looks to be solid with the promise of yet more acquisitions in next year's draft. The sky hasn't fallen. It's merely drooping. Injuries have always been the issue that rises it's ugly head before, during and even after seasons. It would be nice to have at least one season where injuries don't play the biggest part in the win/loss record books.
Glenn has been injured in each of the past 3 seasons. Don't expect him to be miraculously healthy and play at a Pro Bowl level. It's why Buffalo dumped him on us.

The mentioned we now have all preseason to get it right either with folks currently on the squad or bringing in a vet. They mentioned the good thing about bringing in a vet is that we have all preseason to determine if he is what we need and if not can cut him before Salary is guaranteed, Personally I'll like to see what we have in Mike Jordan. Of course there's always a chance we can bring back Andre 350.
Bring back Andre? Geez, how many times has that happened? The rest of what you heard was spot on. This would have really sucked had it went down in the first game of the season.

Glenn will be fine. And I'm not sure Jonah would have done better at LT as a rookie, anyway.
This is not a good situation because he loses a year of NFL experience. But it is what it is.
Classic Bengals board. When Jonah was healthy he was going to produce like Whitworth. Now that Williams is out for the year, his contribution gets downplayed and Glenn is the man!
This stuff is hilarious!

Yeah...now that Jonah is hurt...he obviously would have sucked this year! Classic Bengals board.

They were probly doing the due diligence of making sure surgery was absolutely needed before proceeding.
It doesn't take that long to get a 2nd opinion for a Professional Football Team.
It's what they do. They downplay injuries. They've done it for years and years.

Glenn is bad. They chose to move Glenn to Guard and keep Hart at Tackle. That shows what they think of Glenn.

they kept the vet next to the rookie LT... when the other Vet LG is not able to practice...
they said they would experiment with the OL to get the best five out there... It doesn't mean they think less of glenn... Just shows you what they thought of williams

Glenn was bad last year:
Glenn did not grade particularly well at all from Pro Football Focus , however, particularly as a run-blocker. In pass protection, he was credited with surrendering 36 pressures, tied for 20th-most in the league, but he had the fourth-worst run-blocking grade of all tackles who played at least half of the team’s snaps last season. Not that they are gospel.

I believe it went from Devin Bush is going to be a beast in stripes to Jonah Williams is a way better pick and our offense is gonna shine to next man up we got Glenn for a reason.
I get the mindset but oof.

Yeah this injury was devastating. We had a bad offensive line last year and bad LB's. Williams was the only guy you could look at and say...Wow that's an upgrade. And he's hurt.
Now had we added some upgrades in free agency, it's a different story.
Honestly, people harp on injuries from last year...but every year guys are going to get hurt. Atleast some guys.

Here's some Hobson to get you through the Williams injury. After all, we don't need to let the Williams injury dampen our hopes of a Super Bowl run:
With Boling (109 starts) or Jerry (101), the Bengals have potentially more experience on the left side than the Patriots did when they began their run to last year’s championship run. The Pats went with a seventh-round pick in his fourth season at left tackle in Trent Brown and third-year man Joe Thuney at left guard.
When first-round pick Isaiah Wynn suffered a season-ending torn Achilles on his ninth pre-season snap, they were trying him at right tackle. But they’ve got enough confidence in Wynn, the 23rd selection back in 2018, that they let Brown go in free agency and put Wynn in his place.
After Williams works through his rehab and learning of the scheme, he figures to get the same vote of confidence from the Bengals. An injured red-shirt year hasn’t spelled doom.
It certainly didn’t hurt cornerback William Jackson III. Jackson, the Bengals’ No. 1 pick in 2016, has played at a high level (Pro Football Focus.com put him in the top 16 cornerbacks in snaps per reception in 2017 and 2018) despite suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in his first training camp. The club opted to exercise their fifth-year option on him in 2020.

This surprise Williams injury has me wondering what the hell is really going on with Boling ? Feel like he could be the next one that has a serious injury the team hasn’t commented on. Hobson vaguely mentioned he would be out of camp for a little bit with an injury but no specifics. He’s been are best lineman the last three seasons and has the ability to be a decent tackle. It seems like the Bengals have been doing everything in there power to replace him. Miller has been pegged as the staring RG and every other guard on the team has been mentioned to have a shot at starting LG even Jerry would couldn’t even make a roster last season.

Hmm the Patriots took an o line man in the 1st and he missed the wole season and they still won the SB. I thought we were trying to be the Rams, but this is an interesting step towards being the Patriots.
I wasn't going to get my hopes up on this season but now that Williams is out id say the sky is the limit.

Time to chill out. Not saying Williams will be great, or even comeback from the injury, but I remember another LT the Bengals drafted whose college career was riddled with injuries. He ended up in the Hall of Fame.

The doom is strong in this thread.
The season didn't start yet. Not one person knows how the season will play out at this point. It is like half of the people on the forum need a Bengals misstep in order to release negative energy. Happy people live longer, google it.
A guy was injured. Its done. Players get injured. We have a weird streak with these things. But our team is going to play regardless. Do you cheer for the Bengals or just b%tch about them? Sheesh
