Big Ben is having surgery on that blown out elbow and is gone for the season

At his age it will be tough to come back from. Although if it is Tommy John surgery there is a decent chance he could come back, but should he?

Plus he didn't look that great when he did play this year.

He was already thinking about retirement but will his ego allow him to quit because of injury

I could see the Steelers shuffling their feet on getting a 1st round QB (they have already, actually) because they are holding on to the hopes that they can get a few more years out of Ben and fill other holes with the picks like they did in the early 80s with Bradshaw.

If he was already thinking about retirement... this would be a good reason to.
Go out "kinda" on top. (There's a lot more good to remember than bad.)
But, if he comes back and stinks it up... that will be a stain on his legacy.
