How the mighty have fallen...
#1
Thinking back on the 2015 series between the Bengals and Steelers, it's amazing how far both teams have fallen in just 4 years. Also, many of the key figures from the rivalry that year are in much different places.

Bengals since then: 19-31-1 (.382)

Marvin Lewis: gone
Hue Jackson: yikes
Burfict: gone
Nelson: gone
Jeremy Hill: fell off the face of the Earth
AJ Green: has missed 16 games and counting
Eifert: not the same player after a slew of injuries
Marvin Jones: gone
Mo Sanu: gone
Mike Nugent: fell apart the following season

Steelers since: 33-17-1 (.657)

Mike Tomlin: probably gone soon?
Todd Haley: left to team up with Hue Jackson in Cleveland. Sick
Mike Munchak: gone
Ben: hurt and possibly retiring based on age, injury, status of team
Antonio Brown: yikes
Martavis Bryant: suspended for entire 2016 season, disappeared shortly after
Markus Wheaton: disappeared after 2015
LeVeon Bell: gone
Ryan Shazier: the dirty play he was known for ruined his career
Mike Mitchell: gone
Heath Miller: retired after that season, at 33 years old

--------------

It almost seems like both teams have been smacked by karma since then. Sure, the Steelers took a bit longer to fall off, but when they did, it became a pretty epic mess with Ben/Antonio/LeVeon etc.

Perhaps not coincidentally, 2015 was the last time I felt much excitement for this team.

I almost even forgot to watch the opening game this year. My wife, of all people, reminded me that it was on.

You're not alone in that sentiment.  That was the last year that I got emotionally invested in the team.

Teams will go through peaks and valleys eventually. Some teams will have higher peaks and/or valleys than others.

Bengals' biggest reason for downfall is missing on OL draft picks in the past 5 years and having their talented OL leaving in FA.
They also haven't prioritized LB as well as most think it should be and haven't landed a quality starting LB in the draft for over 10 years.
I would say I have confidence Pratt can become one but I also thought Dawson and Porter were good picks haha.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Sure miss Peko, but AJ should have been traded already.

What a debacle.

Pacman called Joey Porter "Jerry Porter" after the 2015 playoff game.

Same here buddy. Funny you say that because I forget about games all the time these days. I haven't watched a game yet this season and I've only watched the highlights of 2.

Yeah I thought the same, but I liked the title so I rolled with it anyway.
