I guess he thinks that an as of yet unsigned AJ Green will be playing at a high level for the Bengals until he's 45. Man, this guy is BRUTAL. I don't really believe that it's because he's that stupid either. Perhaps he's just scared of the optics of having Green tear it up in another uniform?

Remember when we were trying to convince ourselves MB had totally stepped back and let others make decisions?

The Bengals are to lazy of an organization to get involved in the trade business, it might mean they would have to actually scout players and give more control of player movement to the team. No way. These lazy greedy owners are why I can hardly call myself a Bengals fan anymore, if at all.

Only Mike Brown would think that trading aging players who may or may not be starting to decline for multiple draft picks as "making other teams better". SMH

AJ would probably take a discount contract from the Bengals given his injury history and his desire to play for one team. Some people are loyal to those who give them the chance to be great; AJ seems to fit that mold and there is nothing wrong with that.

Or AJ is just saying the politically correct things and will explore options in free agency. Hard to say really.

Bengals apparently lowballs Whitworth to the point that he walked. I'm sure he would have taken some type of discount here but given his view it seemed like they were no where close and it is why he left. It wouldn't surprise me to see the same thing happen with AJ or any other aging player.

I don't know on AJ. They have traditionally been hesitant to give WR's that are over 30 long-term deals for big money. I could see amount of years being an issue. But, AJ has been injured A LOT. It's quite conceivable that other teams won't offer him a 3-4 year deal for high dollars. A guy like Julio Jones had 1677 yards last year and is on pace for 1500 this year. He gets big money. AJ has had 1 1000+ yard season over the past 4 seasons...and it was 1,078. No way is he worth Julio Jones-type money.

'Cause I hate to think that if the decisions are currently being made mostly Katie and Zac and Duke etc. and NOT Mike, than we're going to possibly suck worse for longer than we did in the 90s.

Either this bunch is completely deluded a la Hitler in the bunker deluded, living in some lala land where victory is just around the corner,
Or They are deliberately screwing the fans over and laughing all the way to the bank. Either way, I can't take much more of this either. Good god. I mean, damn... . Just... (sigh)

AJ Green asked for an extension and Mikey Boy handed him a prescription for Viagra. That’s the only extension he’s going to get around here.

When players good or bad can make just as much money losing as they can winning the incentive for winning isn't very strong. The painful fact is that most players are not from the cities their teams are based in and don't live in them in the off season.
Think about that a moment. Suppose you're just a mere janitor sweeping floors for minimum wage with absolutely no chance for advancement . You can be offered to sweep floors at the same pay for some mega successful corporation and attempt to claw your way to the top or remain with the little company in some town and claw your way to the top of the same place. Either way you're still sweeping floors and the floor doesn't really care. In football you're still either catching a ball, throwing a ball or knocking someone else to the ground and the field you do it on doesn't care who you're doing it for. The end result is still the same.
In the immortal words of my old man, "Wait'll you get to be my age!"

Right now the Bengals are doiung a GREAT job of making other teams better.
Our opponents are 8-0. Best in the league.

A bit of luck can play into a draft...both bad and good at some level. Drafting a guy like Atkins in the 4th Round and then him turning into a HOF-caliber player is a bit of luck and they did a good job developing him. We just had a string of 3-4 drafts that were pretty good to great. We've since failed to even have 1 of that caliber. Supposedly what Marvin was doing was using the draft pundits/scouting services and just going BAP. It seemed to work. Now, we're taking guys like Sample 2 rounds too early.
