Yep. People also act like just being on the job longer makes a coach better. This staff needs an experienced offensive mind as a mentor. They have none.

Bringing in Bill Callahan would be nice, but you know Zac’s boy Turner isn’t going anywhere. Maybe he’d be willing to take some kind of special offensive assistant position to work with his son?

“I’m thankful to have a job. There’s no question about that, because the expectations are so much higher. There’s a belief here that we’re heading in the right direction, although it didn’t show in the wins and losses. We know that we’re going to get things turned around and that there’s going to be great days ahead, and I’m fortunate that the Brown family sees that and believes in that.

[b]How excited are you to have the first choice in the draft?[/b]
“All we can handle is what’s in front of us, and we have the No. 1 pick. Now you really get the chance to know who you’re going to take. It’s not just hoping that Jonah Williams is going to be there (when you pick) and hoping nobody takes him before you. Now, we get to make that selection. There’s a lot that goes into that process, as we research these guys and try to reach a conclusion on who we want to take, but we have plenty of time for that. That’s the good news. We don’t have to make that pick until the end of April, so we’ll use all of that time to figure out what we want to do.”

[b]Which position groups would you like to improve this offseason?[/b]
“Those are things that we want to make sure we talk about as a staff this week. You do talk about it as the season goes, with the improvements we need to make. But you get the chance now to take a step back, take New Year’s off, take a deep breath there and then come back and finalize the direction we believe we need to head in all areas of our personnel.”

[b]Entering free agency, do you feel that the front office is going to give you what you need to make improvements in that area?[/b]
“We’ve been on the same page every step of the way. Again, those are conversations we’ll have this week to make sure we’re all heading in the same direction — which I know that we are — just with how we see the personnel going forward. Again, that’s something that we’ll take care of now that the season is over with.”

[b]Is it too early to say the team will draft anybody but Louisiana State QB Joe Burrow?[/b]
“That would be way too early (laughs). Our personnel staff has done a great job of starting the process and evaluating these guys. But obviously the coaching staff likes to watch the players as well, and we haven’t watched a snap on anybody yet. We’ll just piece together that process as we go.”

Those daily meetings are a committee of inexperience. What exactly does Katie contribute to them? I made pudding for the kids this morning? Seriously, it's a joke. Troy and Katie have to rely on Taylor to tell them what is what, and that's scary.

Let's see now.. it's been one day since the season ended and the entire team and all the coaches haven't been canned yet. Well, that's certainly a reason to panic. I mean if it had been two days instead I could understand the reason for panicking, but one day? Maybe 1 day and 15 minutes..

The guy literally just finished a season yesterday and you guys think he will come out and just announce to the entire league everything the Bengals are thinking of doing?

I guess the op is assuming that because nothing happened yesterday, then zero changes are going to happen. It’s way too soon to make those assumptions.

Some of the same people giving up now also told us at the beginning of the year that the Browns were going to win it all based on free agency. Things may not necessarily happen the way we assume they will.

I understand the anger and frustration. I have seen the Bengals win in the playoffs and go to the Super Bowl in my lifetime, but I know a lot of you have not. It is not easy being a Bengal fan, I know, but a lot of fans can say the same about their teams.

All of that aside... Those meetings are just bad practice. No other coach in the NFL not named Jason Garrett deals with anything like that. There is separation between ownership, management, coaches and players.

I think they do that because Paul probably did that. But Paul was a football savant and Mike and Katie are lawyers.

Mt sure why anyone thought there would be a change. MB is not going to give up on Zac after one year. Not sure we should already either. I doubt he would have made a change if we lost every game. Too much work for the family. I do think the DC and OL coaches should be gone. But the D and Oline in the family’s eyes played good enough at the end to stay. That’s the problem with this team, never try to get better. Just meh good enough in Browns eyes.

People keep saying the defense got better, but we allowed 27, 34, 38 and 23 points over the last 4 weeks. I'm with Leonard Leap. Bad coaches don't get better just because you keep them. How many coaching staffs started 2-14, stayed 100% intact and wound up being great? I'm sure there are examples, but what are the odds?

A lot of people on here defended the Terryl Austin hire. A lot of people wanted to keep Zampese for another go. Sometimes coaches just are what their resumes say they are, and we've got a lot of weak resumes on this team.

Not all of those were on the D though. There's at least a couple of pick 6s in there, a muffed catch on special teams gifting points just before the interval etc. Anyone got the figures for just the D points conceded?

If you want to criticize them for only playing two teams with a winning record in the second half you also need to cut them some slack for playing such a tough first half schedule - overall they still had the toughest schedule in the NFL.

Totally incorrect.  They are going to evaluate and discuss everything, then no changes.

After getting AJ's major endorsement, Im not expecting any changes to staff at all unless someone leaves on their own will. Bernard, Kirkpatrick and Green have all at this point praised Zac for keeping them united even during all the losses, and think hes a great coach and will win here and turn it around. No doubt Mike Brown hears that loud and clear.

To be honest I assumed AJ was on the sidelines shaking his head all year and hoping to escape this mess and find a better team to play for. I didnt expect him to say much at all until they figure out his contract situation, so him basically saying he wants to stay here and play for Zac Taylor, who he thinks is a great coach was a little surprising when I saw it last night.

It is a very real fear. We've, over the last decade + watched two pretty good QB's go down the drain because MB won't do what it takes to build a winner.

My biggest fear is we're going to go thru another cookie cutter MB offseason. Retain 95% of the current roster. Get a B- free agent and a C+. Trade nobody for picks. Rely 100% on the 7 picks we have. Stay the course !

And we'll slowly watch QB #3 erode like the others.
