This day in Bengals History
#1
I was just over 21 years old and a senior in college.  Where were you?

I was on call that day and remember stopping by my in-laws house (where my wife happened to be) and watching some of that game on a little TV in the back room.

If i had known that would be the last playoff win in over 3 decades, i would have made more of an effort to be there to watch the whole thing. Mellow

I was probably doing some shady shit like getting drunk and trying to figure out what the hell I wanted to do with my life. Just got out of the Army in September, then was recalled to active duty on 1-31-91, so that little time period was pretty much of a blur. I know I saved some cash and was basically just taking some time off and getting hammered and watching the news and shit. I think I bought a Ford Escort, IDK? I lived with an ugly stripper who was dumber than rocks, which was ok, well, until I married her because if I died in Desert Storm, well, young kid stupid thinking I guess? Anyway, If that marriage would have lasted as long as the Bengals playoff drought, I would really be screwed today. However, that stripper gave me a beautiful daughter who is a Bengals fan herself. So, not all bad came from all that stuff. Well, for me anyway. Not sure how long she's gonna be doomed for rooting for this team.

In other words, I guess I don't have a clue what I was doing that day.

Because I feel it's both funny and sad, I wasn't even born yet. Still a little over 2 years before I'd be born.

I was just under 21 and was probably drinking at Hammerheads Fairmont WVa trying to hook up with some underage skanky FSC freshman. It was about an hour drive away and my buddy went to school there and they let you in the bar at 18 back then, so its just what we did every, single, weekend.

You were married back then?

You're older than dirt, my friend.

That is f*cked up though. That's almost 30 years without a playoff win. I know we bust your balls over that, but that's terrible. Even Browns have one win. Hell, the laughing stocks of the 70s and 80s, the Seahawks, Saints, Buccaneers, and Cardinals have even been to/won a SB since then.

Married for a year and yep, so much fun being a bengals fan.

That was an interesting clip. Back then I was working part time as an answering service operator on the weekends in Blue Ash and that's probably where I was during the game. The announcer, Don Criqui was one of my favorites. He had a good style.

I only seen the first 21 seconds and I stopped it, took a sip of beer and said, "Good Luck!" I really think Andy could take them to a SB. But, he's been Marvinized so it would be a great task for BB. First, he has to start winning in games that don't start at 1pm. Well, there was a second but screw it. However I will say, and I agree with the first 21 seconds, BB get's the best out of guys. He could probably do it with Andy like he has every other Bengal he snatched from us.

That will show how bad Marvin really was.

Yeah... Seriously... I don't even remember that day or that game. Plenty of blunders ever since though.
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

I was 15....and still believed in my team. Then Paul Brown died, Sammy was fired, and the rest is awful history....
