Local joint in Glendale area
#1
Hey all, looking for a recommendation for the next time I travel up to visit my son. My son lives in the Glendale area, and I'm looking for a quiet, side street joint that has great locally known pizza, as well as a bar where we can enjoy a few beers and a shot, and maybe watch a ball game.

I'm looking to avoid big bright franchise looking places, or pricey places where people will be overdressed or have kids running around. Just a quiet locals joint would be just fine.

Dos Amigos, eh?  I've never had pizza from a joint with a Latino name before.  However, I've eaten plenty of pizza from joints with Italian names that were made by Latino cooks.

There's a place called Rocafella's pizza in Sharonville - not too far form Glendale. They have NY style pizza. It's one of my favorite pizza spots in town and is the hole in the wall type of place you are looking for. I'm not 100% sure they serve beer and they also don't have TVs.

Also, DIRECTLY across the street is a place called Blue Goose Sports Cafe. Another hole in the wall with really good food. They have a plethora of TVs and full bar service.

So maybe satisfy your pizza craving at Rocafellas then hit up Blue Goose for some drinks and games.

That sounds like a suggestion I'll have to try.  Last time I went up, he directed me to some place at the mall.  Folks were streaming in and out in business attire, and I wasn't dressed for that occasion, fresh off a 9 hour drive.

We ended up a couple miles up the road, at the Back Porch Saloon. It was a cool place, good food, service and atmosphere, but was just a bit loud with live music going on.
