There's an outside chance that Zach Ertz was the best TE on the field today

The bad Sample block play was a blown protection by Jonah Williams IMO. No way of knowing.

It's hard to say who is assigned to who unless you're a player or coach but yea, leaving the DE for the TE seems like a terrible scheme decision if it was intentional.

1 catch for 1 yard today. Not exactly the production you're looking to see from a 2nd rounder Tight End in the pass game.

He's currently sitting at 8 catches for 52 yards on the season, for an absolutely abysmal, joke of a 6.5 YPC average. Which puts him on pace for 42 catches for 277 yards and zero TD's. For his career he now has 11 receptions for 82 yards.

Not looking too good for a top 55 pick.

The Eagles had 2 linebackers sitting in the A gap. Philly actually bailed both Linebackers on the play and left left the Bengals to double the inside while leaving Barnett one on one with a TE on the outside. It was a great disguise by the philly defense the took the hot read away and forced a great matchup.

Well this thread was a tad premature...

Very disappointing performance today for a #1 TE. Uzomah is going to be a big loss for this offense.

I'd like to see them give the kid from South Florida a chance. He was a pass catching threat in college

Sample is an inline TE, and he played decently well yesterday. They had problems sending him out on routes because the OL played so poorly and he is not a Gronk style receiving threat. He is more akin to Reggie Kelly.

Now that weird play where they lined him up opposite a DE then sent him out to catch? Leaving no one assigned to the DE? That is more on Zac Taylor and his space brain.
