Zack Taylor is One of the Worst Offensive Minds I've Ever Seen

From what i recall of the Higgins pass, he had the ball in both hands and the DB just knocked it loose.

He played 15 snaps and wasn't thrown to once in week 1.

He was a healthy scratch in week 2.

He then has his agent start whining and talking about demanding a trade if they don't utilize him more on offense.

He gets thrown to 5 times, including 3 looks in the end zone when he's locked down in coverage.

Zac can't be the warden if he's going to let the inmates run the asylum.  Tate can't cry to the media about being used more, then fail to win against man coverage.

It was a bit of a bang bang play. The defender got his hand in there but he also was not looking at the ball which is usually supposed to be PI.

I don't think it's fair to omit Ross' lack of production as a possible reason they decided to go another way.

I don't think faceguarding is part of the rule anymore. Seems like it's been gone for a few years now.

Zac Taylor is so.clever and tricky. 18 seconds on.the clock in OT he runs Mixon.up the middle to finish the game.
Darn Zac if Mixon.broke that tackle he was off to.the races.
Your such a genius.

He must be an incredible used car salesperson to convince Mike Brown to allow him to have both roles.
I think you're barking up the wrong tree. I believe Katie and Mr. Imarriedintothis have mainly taken over day to day duties.

I know they and Tobin hired ZT...

I think if it was up to Mike he would have just kept Marvin.

Troy and Katie have actually been instrumental in the last 2 head coaches being hired. They wanted Marvin and Zac...and got both.

Ross was only thrown to twice last week when Tate was inactive.  It also isn't like they were trying to force the ball to Ross in the end zone when he was blanketed by the defender.  Why were they throwing it more to Tate than Thomas, who has outplayed both guys so far this year?

Does it make sense to force the ball to a WR that has scored 1 TD in 2 years in the league?  Tate has proven throughout his career to be woefully ineffective in the red zone.  Why would you make him the focus of your red zone offense?

Not only that, by why would you reward a back half of the roster player for having his camp spout off in the media?

I lost a lot of faith in Zac today (as I said in the game day thread - I’m late to the party)
We all know the line is going to suck so why does he keep running those play action plays where the D doesn’t bite and it just gives the line an even quicker path to Burrow? The line isnt going to magically improve during the season so Zac needs to adjust.
Taylor needs to put him in shotgun with Gio (good blocker/pass catcher) and let him go hurry-up. That’s when the offense has had its most success. They are not going to win by lining up and trying to block them straight up so keep the D off guard and give Burrow that extra second to throw.
Run out of the shotgun too and keep them guessing.

Two fades to a guy you had inactive last week when you had a chance to put the game away made little sense.

When.your.that close the higher % throw is a slant or you.drag a wr/te across the back of the endzone
The fade is a low % throw believe it or not.
We have the dumbest coaches in the NFL let me tell ya

I would lay all the blame there as well. Interesting anecdote...well I think it is interesting since it is mine...but it has to do with Katie as well as the hiring of Zac Taylor. My physician was a team doctor years ago, and I happened to be getting my annual physical with him in 2019 right at the time where Marvin was let go and Zac hadn't been hired yet. I asked him if he had any insight into who they might hire, and his answer was "The cheapest one."

So as we continued talking, I told him I notice a lot of people on message boards and some of my friends hope that things will change when Katie takes over completely and Mike is out of the picture. I expressed my doubts that anything will change with her and He totally agreed. He said her and Mike are nice people, but everything is done on the cheap and Katie is her dad's daughter.

As an example, he then tells me the story of one year working the draft combine. He tells me, "It's long boring days for the team doctors, and one of his colleagues went back to the hotel at the end of the day and dialed up a movie in his room...Not a porn movie, just a movie. Well a month later, this guy gets a bill from Katie for $6.99 or whatever the movie cost. Dude quit right then."

That convinced me that nothing is going to change until the team is sold to another owner. I really hope I am wrong and the spending this offseason is an indication of future dealings, but as he said, they hired the cheapest candidate and the cycle continues. I was as excited to see Burrow this year as I have been in any year which goes back to the Super Bowl years, but the way they blew off the line and then seeing how poorly they have played so far makes me think his talents will go to waste unless they decide to spend money on the staff and players he needs to support winning.

LOL

They’re definitely not as cheap as they used to be, but it’s sad that I don’t even question this one bit.

I honestly don't think he could get an OC job at a top 100 college right now.  And he's currently pulling double duty as HC and OC for an NFL team.

The faster this turd sandwich is outta here the better.  What a freaking awful hire.  Clown show from a scheme and playcalling standpoint.

I hate to be reactionary, but I agree.  These guys are second rate.  Taylor rode McVey's coattails and the trend of hiring young qb-centric HC's.  Hiring him alone wasn't the worst thing in the world, but not giving him a proven, experienced staff was a big mistake.  McVey had Wade Phillips, a defensive genius and ex-HC to help him carry the weight of being a young HC.  Zac picked/was given Anarumo and Callahan.  Anarumo had done nothing of note in the league, and Callahan won with Peyton Manning, then went to Oakland to be average.  They were Zac's buddies.  I'd love to work with all of my best friends, but it likely wouldn't be optimal for productivity.

Best case scenario if things continue down this road IMO is that we hire Joe Brady from Carolina in the offseason.  Brady is another inexperienced guy HC wise, but he's got a great rapport with the most important guy in the organization.  The other part of the scenario is Mike Zimmer being out in Minnesota.  Get him to be the DC and carry some weight for Brady.  Make it so.

My hope is that Burrow has the ear of ownership and gets a wide berth in voicing his views of what needs to be changed. He's already looking like a franchise savior even as he gets his brains beaten out every week.

Joe Brady would be a win/win. Probably a better play caller than Taylor, and it would make Burrow happy.

Taylor is NOT a head coach...obviously, so I agree that If there is a single brain cell in the front office (doubtful) they get rid of Taylor and go after Brady in the off-season.

Zack Taylor has about a 99% chance of having a worse start than the guy who parlayed his NFL career into being the GM at a Steakhouse franchise.  And not for nothing, but Taylor has way more talent than Shula had.

This dude is actually worse than Dave Shula.  Seriously.

I'm now having a hard time trying to determine if it's Taylor dialing up bad plays or the offensive line is so bad it's causing the plays to simply blow up.
