Dunlap not starting this week
(10-09-2020, 02:05 PM)Okeana Wrote: If you don’t see him pouting by saying employee number 96 I’m not gonna waste my time explaining it

If he had just started calling himself that, one could take is as he is saying, as an employee, he is just a number. But, in all fairness, that has been his Social Media nickname for as long as I can remember, and long before he had any reason to be disgruntled. And one thing is certain, Mike Brown does not view his employees as numbers, rather he sees them as family, to the point sometimes it's detrimental to the organization.

All they had to do was tell Him that they are going to limit his snaps and this wouldn't be a big deal at all.

This.   I appreciate the Bengals willingness to shake up the lineup, but how you do it matters.  The fact he was not aware till after it hit the news cycle is not a good way to treat a good player.  I do appreciate the fact that motivation and consistency has been an issue over his career, I just think they could have floated the lineup as they went vs making a public spectacle about it.

I don't care for him as a player.  Don't know the guy personally.

However, it doesn't matter if you like the guy or not.  When a guy so far down the depth chart that he was a healthy scratch starts making noise in the media about his playing time and your answer is to give him more snaps the next week than Mike Thomas and try to force throws in the end zone to him, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how that can negatively impact the HC's control of the team.  Now, we have a similar situation with Dunlap 2 weeks later.  Now you're in a Catch 22 where either you either have to let this garbage go on unchecked or you seem to be playing favorites.

So Evans is justified in going to the media about his PT if/when he gets pulled out of the nickel package?

Gio is averaging 7.3 ypc.  Is he justified in complaining to the media that he should see more snaps on offense?

Right? I’ve never seen someone have such strong feelings over a 4/5 WR.

Correct me if I', wrong, but I don't believe it made the news cycle until he started complaining to the press.

Dunlap is bad matchup against Ravens wouldn't read more into it than that.

Can't correct you, Employee #96 started moping when he saw the depth chart and went boo-hooing to the media...

I know that's a lie because I've seen you posting in impactplaya's dozens of Auden Tate jerk off threads.

I don't agree with how either guy has handled their business, but let's seriously look at the reaction.  That #4/5 WR was lionized for doing the same thing that most people are villifying an all time Bengals great for doing.

God, the drama when the Bucs offered him a fatter PS contract was insane.  Tate is definitely up there, though.  I feel like the guy could empty an Uzi into a baby carriage and most people will say the media blew it out of proportion and it was all Andy Dalton's fault, anyways.

Well Carlos posted on Instagram something to the effect he would be remiss not to be disappointed, but promises to go hard on every snap. That's a good attitude I guess, let's see if he follows through.

You keep comparing these situations and they're not comparable. Tate was making loads of circus catches and Ross was playing like poop. It was an obvious move. Trying Tate in the redzone wasn't some out-there call. He's tall, can jump and has a huge catch radius. Those calls were more on the coaches for pigeon-holing him as just a jump ball receiver. I blame them for not using him properly.

If all the other guys you're bringing up were in the same situation--playing/producing better than the one in front of him--then yes, they "deserve" to pop off.

EDIT: Except for Gio. He deserves more snaps

I'm all for his snaps being reduced some, even a good bit. He's seemed a bit slugish at times.

Liking a guy, and wanting him to play is not the same as bashing him every single time he’s mentioned.

Also “jerk off threads”? Grow up. At least they’re positive, but we all know that’s not allowed around here. And for the record I’m not down with bashing Dunlap either.

And I feel like Tate could have an 80 yard 2 TD game, and you’d say something along the lines of “literally any WR in the league could have done that.”

Yes.  And it would be good for the team too.  Put him in the backfield WITH Mixon.  Make defenses figure that out.

Who cares.  He's a good player.  If it makes him feel better to *****, let him *****.

He wanted players with class and integrity but doesn't walk the walk himself.

Regardless of how you feel about Dalton and Dunlap, fans gotta admit this team does things in a dysfunctional manner and always has.

Zac fits the model... like a glove.
