Looks like Bengals will have a Top 5 Pick. There are finesse types here such s QB that Bengals do not need. Other Teams need QB and such and will trade good picks to get Bengals spot. Bengals could use a late 1 and some extra picks in 2. Bengals need a Pass Rusher, a Linebacker and a Right Tackle in first 2 rounds. Bengals STINK in blocking and defense front 7. In short, they STINK in the Trenches. TRADING OUT of TOP 5 or TOP 10 will get them a late 1 and an extra 2, if they do it right, and Bengals have many needs at O Line and D Line and Linebacker. Trade Down and Fill all 3 Needs in Round 1 and 2. I'm leaning to the Alabama LB and Alabama Right Tackle and a stud of a DE Pass Rusher. We need 3 in 2, or more, so trade top pick for a franchise QB to a team in dire need of that, we have Burrow. Some team will trade good picks to get our top QB pick in 2021 we don't need, but we need more good picks, so it is a Win, Win trade for Bengals and team moving up to take QB.
If Bengals get #1 pick again, that QB there, we should get a ton of good picks from team moving up to draft him.

How do you figure?
6 teams have a worse record than the Bengals right now.
Bengals more accurately look like they will have a pick in the 6-10 range.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

2 of those 6 teams have winnable games this weekend so that could drop them to 5 overall in the draft. The following week the Bengals are on a bye and NY Giants are playing Washington while the Texans are playing Jacksonville. So that's one more team to pass the Bengals, posssibly another 2. You're now possibly down to 3 in the draft by Week 10 of the schedule! Coming off the Bengals bye is a game at Pittsburgh. It's perceivable that they could be sitting at number 2 or 3 in the draft by then with still 7 weeks on the schedule. Jets would need to win at least 2 games to pass the Bengals, if they didn't win another game that is. I don't have much trust that the Jets can win 1 let alone 2 games down the stretch. But here you go possibly sitting at number 2 in the draft!

If the Bengals are picking 6-10 I would be on board trading back.

Can’t really say anything about trading down until we know exactly where we pick from and who is on the board when we pick.
Sewell
Rousseau
Surtain Jr
Chase
I’d have a hard time passing on these dudes if we have a shot at them.
Parsons, wildcard
And here comes 1 long or several medium paragraphs about blocking and tackling

I get that, but those teams, just like the Bengals, have had and will have winnable games, yet they are where they are.
Looking at the Bengals' remaining schedule, they have arguably 4-5 winnable games left.
NYG, WAS, DAL, HOU, and maybe MIA.
The Bengals could end up being 1-14-1 by season's end or they could be 6-9-1.
The entire NFC East is full of bad teams, so they'll beat up on each other and I think two of them will end up just ahead of the Bengals and the other two will pick ahead of the Bengals.
I think NYJ and JAX are also clearly worse than the Bengals.
It also wouldn't surprise me to see MIN, DEN, and/or LAC end up with a worse record than CIN. LAC has only beaten CIN and JAX. MIN already moved on from Ngakoue, which has made their team even worse. They may be tanking to try to get Lawrence or Fields.

I am actually in the camp right now of, don't shoot me, draft an elite rusher either outside or interior in the 1st and get to the line in the 2nd. The reason being is I think this will be another class where really good tackle options will be there in the 2nd. The lack of pass rush the last few years is the biggest storyline people seem to gloss over when talking about this team, we simply have none and it's a massive issue.

We have three extraordinarily winnable games after the bye with Washington, NYG and Dallas. We also have Miami, who look really good but are also a generally "bad" team and then we have the Texans later in the season who are...looking really bad and directionless.
We most likely are not ending the season with a top 5 or even top 10 pick.
With that said, if we continue our "we should have won at least 3 of the 5 games we lost this season" style of blowing games, then maybe we will be drafting high. In that case, I fully endorse a trade down.
Hell, depending on who's available at our pick, I'm likely in favor of trading down regardless of our position in the first round.

They definitely need a true edge defender that can ruin game plans. Gregory Rousseau and Kwity Paye are probably the only two right now considered in that category and both have big question marks.
I wouldn't be opposed to trading back and picking up extra picks this draft because I think they need an edge guy and it's not a strong high end class. If they trade back and get someone like Christian Darrisaw, Patrick Jones II at the top of the second, and an extra pick I believe that would be ideal.

I think Kwity Paye ends up a top 10 based on some rumors of what his testing numbers will look like, supposedly better than Rashaan Gary. A lot obviously depends on where we land and where the usually drop off happens from elite prospects to "Everyone for the next 20 picks is rated about the same". I haven't gotten super deep into college scouting yet since half the leagues weren't playing yet until last weekend and moving forward. That said, I still feel like Tackle is going to be really solid this year of guys who are all the same after Sewell and one probably is there at the top of the 2nd.

If we go through FA and sign olineman then we need to draft the best D lineman in the draft

I tend to agree and use some of that released cap $ to sign some legit, proven O linemen to protect Burrow.
Imagine what Burrow would have done last week if he had the time Mayfield had??
Really need some game changers on D side....tired of seeing Pitt, Balt and Cleve get these players .

Yep the pass rush has been way to inconsistent over the years plus with Dunlap gone, Geno probably gone+ aging, and and potentially loosing Lawson as well. Pass rushers become even more urgent of a need than anything else on the team.

Cincy still plays the redskins giants and Dallas.... at a minimum that’s 3 easy wins.

Gregory Rousseau is worth the gamble in the top 10. He has the build/athletisim you want as an edge defender and a natural feel for the position. He makes so many plays just because he has length and knows how to use it.
I would have loved to see him play this season but right now he's preparing his body for the pro game while refining his technique.

He has 0 technique. He’s a project. He dosent know how win with his hands or having multiple pass rush moves. He like many other top dlineman in this class use his athleticism and that’s it.

You absolutely cannot "gamble" in the top 10. You have to go with the best guy on the board and he needs to be a high floor/high ceiling type.
I don't think there's any chance we are drafting in the top 3. There are 3 clear cut elite prospects in this draft - Lawrence, Fields and Sewell. Once those guys go off the board, teams aren't going to be giving up multiple picks to move up a few spots.

Jacksonville would be a good partner. They have two 1sts and two 2nds.

I am personally in the camp that the OL needs to be fixed in FA. We need some proven guys to protect Burrow and I don't think it's wise to potentially waste another year trying to draft and develop starters on the OL.
The top of the draft seems to be weak for pass rushers, but there seems to be some good prospects in 2. We probably need to add an edge rusher in FA, too.

You won't really find edge rushers in FA much better than what we have. Honestly, Carl Lawson will be one of the best ones out there.
