The sacks aren’t the only story. For every sack there is likely more pressures that just didn’t land.
If this line isn’t addressed next year it is a BAD sign about our franchise and it 100% means Mike Brown doesn’t give AF about winning
The Bengals only have 1, MAYBE 2, guys who are decent-or-better at both run blocking and pass blocking.
Jonah Williams seems to be the best overall.
Bobby Hart was bad at pass blocking early in the season but has improved, and he's the team's best run blocker.
Then you get into the guys who are ok at one thing but bad at the other:
Hopkins - good pass blocker, bad run blocker
Jordan - bad pass blocker, decent run blocker
Price - terrible pass blocker, solid run blocker as long as he's playing C
Redmond - bad pass blocker, solid run blocker
Then you get into guys that are kind of unknown for the Bengals:
Su'a-Filo - Good at both in his one game, but has not been a good run blocker with other teams
Spain - Been decent in his two games with Bengals but needs to become starter at one spot to see if it's sustainable. Had been a good pass blocker, mediocre run blocker with TEN and BUF.
With all of that, the Bengals need to determine what type of offense they want to be.
If they want to be a running team, their best OL would be Williams - Jordan - Price - Redmond - Hart
If they want to be primarily a passing team, their best OL would be Williams - Spain - Hopkins - XSF - Hart
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
