The fine 4
#1
Each year I post a few "under the radar' guy that have caught my interest and tracked their progress throughout the season. This year the fine 4 are all on defense:

CHRIS RUMPH II- EDGE

DAVIYON NIXON- IDL

CHAZZ SURRAT- LB

DEOMMODORE LENOIR- CB

A little more on each to follow.

Loved Surratt last year when he was contemplating coming out last year. Was hoping we would get him. Bet he ends up as a 2nd round pick, possibly earlier depending on the LB class. He has the makings of a guy who can rise up the ranks this year.

What intrigues me about Chazz is that he's a former QB and was a champion chess player as a kid. Seems like 2 great traits for a player tobe the "QB of the D".

Besides the cerebral assets, he produces on the field: 68 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 FF, and 1 INT coming into this weekend

Starting this Surratt peaked my interest more that any, but the more I learn about Nixon the more I want to learn. Had to go the JUCO route due to grades and Bama wanted him once he was eligible but he remained loyal to Iowa (the school that wanted him out of HS). The thing I like about Nixon is the number of plays he makes behind the LOS. Out of his 23 tackles 7 occurred behind the LOS.

Looking forward to watching him match up against Will Fries today

Nixon must have heard he was on bfine's watchlist:

5 tackles
1 sack
1.5 TFL

A good day for a couple Fine 4.

Surratt's team came up short against UND, but he had a team high 8 tackles and 1 sack.

Nixon continues to impress 8 tackles 3 TFL and 1 sack against Nebraska. Dude is really improving his stock.

Rumph had a decent night. 4 tackles, .5 sack, and a forced fumble.

Surrat is as interesting as he is concerning.

I haven't seen a lot of film on him, but I've heard him mentioned on several mocks so read what I could. A QB who transitioned to LB because of injury? Is he one of those guys that just gets by because he's a good athlete? And if so, will he be able to hold up as an NFL linebacker?
