Spain starting at LG over Jordan 11/29
#1
It's official. Spain is getting the start over Jordan at LG for today's game against the Giants.
Taylor has said it's due to Jordan's inconsistency.

Redmond gets the start at RG, but it's already been confirmed that XSF is now fully healthy.

So for those of us who have pounded the table for Spain and XSF starting over Jordan and Redmond, we might finally get it starting next week.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Only took destroying our rookie QB's knee to make the switch!

Maybe Taylor finally stood up to Turner and said dude you suck. If this season results in a new DC and a new OL coach there will be hope.

Still need a different playcaller or it all will look the same.

Taylor explicitly stated that the reason for the benching of Jordan was due to inconsistency, not for what happened to Burrow.

Unfortunately, with Redmond getting concussed during the game, Jordan was back out there at LG. Spain was shifted to RG when Redmond went out.

But for how long?

He was available because of his injury history, then didn't make it through the first game.

Sadly I don't see him as a long term solution on the line.

At some point he'll get to actually play his best position

I mean, he only signed for $9 mill over 3 years. That's not really something you give for a long-term solution anyway. We need to stop thinking he was ever meant to be a long-term solution and start thinking maybe he was only meant to be a stopgap for a year or two.

The reality is the Bengals banked on Jordan, Hart, Williams, and Hopkins all improving and using XSF as a filler for RG. Which is funny because they cut Miller for XSF, when they should have had XSF compete with Jordan. Miller was probably the 2nd best starter on the OL last year, and he's been a decent starter with CAR.

Doesn't have Turner coaching him down...   Whatever

Did he get cut?

I was thinking he was here on a 1 year deal and wasn't re-signed.

An unusual offseason with no preseason games makes it all kind of blurry.

He's doing just slightly better than he was with CIN. He was a decent starter for CIN last year. Just really made my head scratch that the coaches thought he was the one who needed replaced instead of Jordan.

Not exactly true. It took XFS getting healthy. Spain had to play RG last week because Redmond had a biceps injury, or he probably would have been at LG last week. And the week before he had to play RT. So Spain has not been available to replace Jordan.

No, he was cut.

He was only 1 year into his 3-year, $16.5 mill deal.

Bingo.

The problem is there are too many injuries elsewhere that Spain is being put at other positions.

Doubt it, Zac doesn’t seem like the type to get in his coaches asses when things aren’t going well. No accountability from this staff.

There is absolutely no way in hell Michael Jordan is better than Billy Price. I hope Price goes somewhere else and finds success

Price was actually worse as a pass protector than Jordan, at least at OG.

What you see with the Ohio St guys who came from the Urban Meyer scheme is they are much more developed as run blockers than pass blockers. And when you have an offense that is pass-oriented, it's going to be more difficult for those guys.

For 2021, they need guys who can pass protect. For the rest of this season, they probably actually should have a more run-oriented offense so that Allen isn't having to throw much.
