Scouting the Bowl Game 20-21

I do this each year, but this year kind of caught me off guard so we’re getting a little bit og a late start. But let’s kick it off with Christmas Day. Point out prospect(s) in each game you are looking forward to watching or you may think would look good in stripes.

December 25, 2020Kickoff: 1:30 PM CT
Broadcasted live on ESPN

Marshall v. Buffalo

Marshall- Steven Gilmore CB- Steven is one of the key defenders on a very good Marshall D. If we let WJIII walk we could do worse than seeing if Baby Bro can come close to Stephon.

Buffalo- Ray Thomas-Ishman OG- I know very little about him and have never focused on him. But he has perfect size for an OG (6’3”/325) and blocks for one of the best runners in the nation.

Josh Ball T Marshall goes about 6'8 310. He's been consistent throughout the year. Mid to late rounder.

Jarett Patterson RB Buffalo probably a late rounder but has had a great year

Josh Ball opted out of the Bowl Game and Knox opted out this entire season. I'm looking forward to watching Marshall because I havent seen the play yet this season.

DEC 26

Cure Bowl
No. 12 Coastal Carolina vs. Liberty
Camping World Stadium (Orlando, Florida)
12 p.m. | ESPN

CC- Tarron Jackson/DE- If the Bengals make the mistake of letting Lawson walk they can get his clone here. Dude has 18.5 xacks in the last 2 seasons

LIB- Malik Willis/ QB- JB loves him some Drew Brees. Why not give him a back up QB in the mold of the one Drew has

SERVPRO First Responder Bowl
No. 19 Louisiana vs. UTSA
Gerald J. Ford Stadium (Dallas, Texas)
3:30 p.m. | ABC

This will be a good game to scout RBs. UL-Elijah Mitchell, UTSA- Sincere McCormick. Unfortunately Sincere is not eligible for the NFL until 2022

LendingTree Bowl
Western Kentucky vs. Georgia State
Ladd-Peebles Stadium (Mobile, Alabama)
3:30 p.m. | ESPN

Watch the NFL gane

Of all the players I saw in this game, the best prospect was the one that didn't play.  I have seen Patterson all season and the kid is just a beast.  He simply has great elusiveness and toughness.  Hardly ever goes down on the first hit.  Sees the holes very well.   Too bad he was injured for this game, but I really like him.

Dec. 29
Cheez-It Bowl
No. 18 Miami vs. No. 21 Oklahoma State
Camping World Stadium (Orlando, Florida)
5:30 p.m. | ESPN

OSU- TYLAN WALLACE/ WR- This is the type of WR I want us to look at. Probably can get at the top of RD 3

THE U- BREVIN JORDAN-TE- Coming into the season he and Pitts were TE 1A and 1B. Jordan has fallen off due to injury, out I'd take the chance

Valero Alamo Bowl
No. 20 Texas vs. Colorado
Alamodome (San Antonio, Texas)
9 p.m. | ESPN

They should rename this one the Opt Out Bowl as all the premiere prospects either opted out for the season of for this game.

Brevin Jordan had a big game. Would love to get in the 3rd, but wouldn't be mad if we pulled the trigger in the 2nd.

Is it just me, or are there more players opting out of bowl games this year?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

I'm a big fan of Jake Ferguson if the Bengals want to get a TE on Day 3.

WVU has a couple defensive backs people should keep an eye on even if they wont likely coming out until next year or the year after that for one of them.

Boundary Corner Dreshun Miller has been one of the better corners in all of college footbal. (RS JR)
Nickle Corner/Spear Tykee Smith made PFFs All-American Team as the nickleback. (SO)

Also RB Leddie Brown (JR) is always fun to watch.

Should be an interesting matchup with no throw army offense lol.

I think 6-8 is too tall for a tackle..he would have real trouble with those shorter speed rusher types (under 6-2)
Do you recall Elvis Dumerville used to give  6-7" Whit Fits....he was reaching down trying to block the dude and before he knew it, Dumerville would be inside his reach and getting to QB.  I think Dumerville listed his Ht at 5-11, which was likely generous.
Sweet spot 6-4 to 6-6 I think .

Darius Stills just blew up the Army center so bad it the center sacked the QB.
