Report: Burrow pushing for Bengals to draft Chase

He also led the league in akward backrubs...

Too soon?
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

 I agree with this.

Everyone here knows I have been calling for additions to our WR corps since the beginning of free agency.  I thought for sure we would at least have signed at a mid tier WR.  The facts that we didn't means we have to use a high draft pick on one.

I don't want it to be our #5 pick, but I would be pissed if we did not take one in the first three rounds.

As much as I keep saying we already have two good WRs I also say we need three starting WRs and have zero depth after Boyd and Higgins.

I'm left with the same question I had 40 something pages ago:  Why can't we do both (address the O-Line and add another weapon)?

Why does this need to be an either/or situation?  If we properly scout, properly plan, and are proactive in making sure we secure our targets, then why can't we add immediate help in both areas?

Fwiw, this is why I tuned out of this thread a long, long time ago.  Everybody is too caught up in one singular pick.  The entire draft matters.  Free agency matters.  Years of roster building matters.  Development and coaching matters.  Regardless of what position we choose to take at number #5, as long as we hit on a need, and we have many, we still have plenty of ways to have a successful draft.

I promise everyone here, whether you're for Sewell, or you're for Chase, you're really smart like me and you're for Pitts Wink ,  it's not the end of the world if we draft one of the options that's not first on your list.  What really matters is the following picks, how we approach the rest of the free agency market (cuts could be interesting), and how this coaching staff develops this roster and system for 2021.

Several of the alleged victims have commented on his ability to "go deep".

Why can't Boyd be that guy? Just because he's already here? It's not like he makes a ton. What's wrong with shooting for the best WR corps in the league?

I don't care either way... I'm just as happy if they go Sewell. I just think they can go best of both worlds and address the line in the 2nd. This team needs a lot of help in a lot of areas. Whoever we take at 5 won't be the be all end all.

I don't think the Chase folks think Higgins is capable of being a WR1. That's the whole point of taking Chase at 5, right? You don't take a WR at the top of the draft (passing on an elite Tackle prospect) for a guy you view as a WR2, right?

Boyd has a cap hit of $9.8 million this year, and over $10 million for the 2 years after that. To pay that much for 600 yards and 4 TD's would be...wow.

We all have a preference on who to take at 5. I'll adjust and get on board with Chase if he's the pick. I'll just be very concerned about the line. Far more so than I'd be concerned about our WR's if we pass on Chase. That's just like...my opinion though.

I'm one of the staunchest Sewell guys on here, but I want Terrance Marshall in the 2nd, or definitely a speed guy in round 2 or 3. Our TE's are also abysmal, but we only have one draft. Mid-round TE's rarely contribute and it's one of the toughest positions for rookies.

It sucks, but I don't know what to do about TE this year. I just know it isn't as important as making sure the franchise isn't on his backside constantly.

I also understand how if a BPA is much better at your draft position than a player that addresses your needs could happen.

Quite frankly I think they painted themselves in a corner for a few position groups and might have to move their picks or reach a time or two.

Otherwise their just shuffling Tate, Thomas, Morgan types.  Your Binns & Core 2.0s.

The only thing that could help is some post draft cuts of other teams.

I know at this point them cutting Uzomah is a rumor but if he's gone TEs are a mess talent-wise.

WR1 / OL2
OL1 / WR2

Either one helps this team immensly.

Only 18 days to go. Come on calendar...

On a side note...

I watched Pitts pro day yesterday on Youtube. Hadn't watched it before. Hoooooleyyyy sheet! I didn't realize that guy could move quite like that. I was thinking that he wouldn't be able to cut it as much as a straight WR1. I was way wrong.

That dude has some serious, serious physical skills.

The question is...  you move your 2nd round pick up any?

WR to get Marshall/Toney

OL to get preferred lineman of Leatherwood/Vera-Tucker/Cosmi/Jenkins

I don't move up for Oline for anyone. I would try hard as hell to move up if Marshall was there at the start of rd2. I'd be more than happy to sit pat if Marshall is gone and Bateman is there. Bateman would be a really good get but he's not worth losing the draft capital like Marshall is, imo.

Vera-Tucker is going mid round 1. Cosmi may go late round 1. I would not move up for Leatherwood or Jenkins and i hope they don't even think about taking Leatherwood in any circumstance.

Welcome to 2021, the year of the 1 way street. Serving it up while being unwilling to eat it is a real thing these days. I'm out of touch with pop culture these days. When did hypocrisy become fashionable?

Speaking of eating it. I just got done with a piece of cheesecake from Guy Fieri's Flavortown Kitchen.

Anyone else ever eaten there? oh mah gaw.

Not sure where you are, but there's one at Newport on the Levee. I got this Cajun chicken alfredo dish and some flavortown fries and they were sooooooooooooooooooo good. I just looked it up real quick and didn't realize it's a 'delivery only restaurant'.

It is well worth finding one and trying it out. Flavortown is a very apt name for it.

Pic like this?

I ate at a Guy Fieri restaurant that was in a casino in the Pocono’s a few years ago. It was truly awful. I guess the one you went to was much better?

If Vera-Tucker or Marshall started to fall to the mid-20s I would, the others I would hold off on.

Omg. Every bite i took, from the Cajun Chicken to the fries to the choc cake to the cheesecake--hey, don't judge, me and the wife shared it all--was amazingly fantastic and that was delivered. I can only imagine how good it would be fresh out the kitchen. But, apparently, the one here shows as being 'delivery only'.

Another side note about Guy Fieri: He's a really good dude, and I think a lot of people should feel a little bit bad for shitting on him so much.

I remember a few back there were a couple videos floating around on youtube where he was the brunt of the joke, and it seemed like the internet would rip on him at every opportunity. But I think if people really look into the guy they'll realize he's one of the few celebrities that is deserving of a lot of support.

He helped raise a ton of money for small businesses this year. And he's got a history of helping out restaurant workers and acts of charity. Plus, it sounds like pretty much anyone who's been featured on his show or has worked with him loves him.

I know it sounds like I'm the president of Guy Fieri fanclub right now, but I've read a few things in the last year or so that made me feel like kind of an asshole for judging him. I always just assumed he was douche because of the look and didn't really put much thought into it other than that. Turns out, I was the douche for thinking that way. That dude rocks.

I am going to go out on a limb and say this is just another case of you twisting someone's argument to be made to look as ridiculous as possible.  I really don't know why you continually do this.  It shouldn't be that hard to just argue against what is actually presented.

If the person you're replying to did say this (that seperation is the only thing to use to measure a deep threat) then my apologies.  If not, can you please stop doing this?  I'm pretty sure it annoys a great deal of the board.

You know what I find annoying?  Guys like you who are so obsessed with takin g personal shot at me that you do it even when you admit you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Funny thing is that he never showed any correlation between "separation" and deep ball completion percentage.

So as you can see Pdub has been obsessed with this "separation" stat recently.  He has brought it up repeatedly as the stat that determines what WRs are are "#1 deep threats"
