No, as soon as Winker came back, Winker has played. More than just a day off. As good as Naquin was hitting, they are dead set to play Winker. Few teams would bench a player leading MLB in homers at the time. Naquin was Red Hot. I don't see the rush to get Winker in there, he isn't all that great.

30 y/o Tyler Naquin: .273/.324/.453 (102 OPS+)
27 y/o Jesse Winker: .283/.382/.482 (123 OPS+)
Winker is younger and a better hitter. At the end of the day people tend to be what the back of their card says they are.

Yup, can't just look at the small sample size.
If we did that Aquino would be out there everyday starting trying to recapture that magic from when he first came up.

Nonsense. The way Naquin was hitting, few teams would have benched him for Winker, who is no Willie Mays. Not only was Naquin leading MLB with 5 homers at the time, but Reds had started beating Cardinals and Pirates and were Winning. Take the back of your baseball cards and rip them up, because Reds should have played the Hot Bat of Naquin. Plus, the back of a Winker card is not that impressive.

You realize he was a first round pick of the Indians and they gave him plenty of chances to make it. Five seasons and he just couldn't be consistent after his 1st season.
I get that he was hot and going well but you do realize that Winker is hitting .391 right?
So who do you bench? They guy hitting .265 with 5 HRs or the guy hitting .391 who is getting on base in front of Moose, Castellanos, and Suarez.
It isn't like they benched him for a guy who also isn't hitting, Winker isn't hitting for power, but we have plenty of power in the line-up. Need some guys that can hit for average.
If Naquin could play CF it'd be easy... bench Senzel who isn't hitting well.

Then bench Senzel and put Winker or Naquin in Center, but get the Hot Bats in there. The Reds have lost 2 series in a row, and need to get after Cleveland. Fact remains they were winning playing Naquin. Winker or Naquin to Center and bench cold hitting Senzel.

If I could... I would but I don't have that power sadly.
Winker, Naquin and Cast makes the most sense at the moment but I really think the Reds are just too locked into the potential of Senzel to bench him.
I worry he's going to be like Brandon Larson was so many years ago. A perfect AAAA player. Too good for AAA pitching, but just not able to hit MLB pitching.

Naquin has started 4 of the last 6 games. They have lost all of his last 3 starts.

LOL.. Winker is 23% better than league average as a hitter. How is that not impressive? That's 10% better than Suarez, 10% better than Castellanos, 22% better than Moustakas, 43% better than Senzel.
The difference between Winker and Naquin (21) is almost the same as the difference between Votto and Winker (24).
That's a Grade A ignorant hot take.

Winker would be hitting for more power if that BS double was reviewed properly. Apparently chairs out of the field of play aren't homeruns anymore. Lol...
Naquin has played in CF in 2 of the last 6 games. He has started in 4 of the last 6 games. This thread is just Kevin being absurd.
