Reds seem to be fading fast right now.. Maybe DeShields gives them a spark..

Reds split todays double header. Still, they lost the series. At least they didn't get swept.

Reds are in a tight race for that Wild Card spot. Reds, Padres, Phillies, Cardinals. All 4 are good teams. Hell, Harper is having a great year for Phillies. Goldschmidt is blasting the ball for Cardinals. Castellanos is ripping it for Reds.

I don't see these teams as FADING, including The Reds. What I see is 4 good teams fighting for last play-off spot in September.

Now all these teams do have problems. Cardinals miss Flaherty. All-Star from Pirates Frazier who was leading NL in hitting isn't doing Jack for Padres. McCutchen who was hot, went real cold for Phillies. Reds miss Winker.

Pitching comes into play, and Reds Pitching needs to keep pace. Reds NEED Castillo, Gray to not be flubbing around now, and good outings from Mahle, Miley, Gutierrez. AND they need the Bullpen to be solid. This is Play-Off Time and time for all of them to step up, not stink it up. Reds have enough hitters. What Reds need is PITCHING and DEFENSE in September. This HAS NOT been a good year for Castillo or Gray, BUT if Those Two have a Strong September, Reds can make The Play-Offs. No excuses now, It's Time for Castillo and Gray to live up to the Hype.

You know Why Reds won in 1990 ? Besides The Nasty Boys. Because Davis and everybody got HOT down the stretch. Even Danny Jackson came back from injuries to be a solid Pitcher. They ALL got HOT at the Right Time. The 2021 Reds can not only make Play-Offs but Win in Play-Offs, IF ALL these REDS get HOT at the Right Time. Reds did go out and got Bullpen Help and some veteran hitters down the Stretch. They aren't sitting and crying about Winker injured. Also Stephenson is shagging balls in Left Field if needed there. Farmer is ready to play anywhere. High Paid VOTTO needs to be a team leader as Willie Stargell was for 1979 Pirates as POPS on We Are Family Team.

The Reds are in a 4 team Dog Fight for Last Play-Off Spot. Whoever Wins will BE HOT and can beat Dodgers or Giants in a One Game Wild Card Game, and those 2 teams are slipping also. Giants have problems and so do Dodgers with Betts not that hot in 2021. Kershaw injury and Bauer suspended hurts Dodgers Huge. Disco has gone cold for Giants, and their pitching is slipping lately. Do NOT under estimate the team that gets HOT and wins this 4 team race in September. If it is The Reds, then they will be HOT enough to make a World Series run.

I know you are all ready for BENGALS. So am I. However this is not the time to get bored with REDS. This is Play-Off Stretch Time, and NOW is when it gets good. Every Game counts Now. The Reds, Cardinals, Padres, Phillies all have teams that could get HOT and win The World Series. Beware of whoever comes out on Top at the end. Of course I'm rooting for The REDS to be That Team.

IF Castillo and Gray can get HOT, you know, All-Star HOT, as Jose Rijo and Browning were in 1990, then Anything is Possible. There Was no Miracle to The Miracle Mets, they had Seaver, Kooseman and Nolan Ryan, not much of a Miracle. Cardinals had Bob Gibson and Steve Carlton. Dodgers had Koufax and Drysdale. Red Sox had Randy Johnson and Curt Schelling. .....If Castillo and Gray get Red Hot from here on out, Winning will NOT be a Miracle. Pitching and Defense wins World Series.

The Reds have some winnable series coming up including Tigers, Cubs, Pirates twice, Nationals.

Perhaps they can stay in it ?

Based on the schedule we SHOULD stay in it.

We only have 8 games left against teams with winning records (Cards-3, Dodgers-3, White Sox-2)

Our other 19 games are against losing teams.  16 of the 19 are against 3 of the worst teams in the NL.  The Cubs (3 games), Pirates (9), and the Nats (4) are all at least 15 games under .500.

ESPN currently gives the Reds a 54.5% chance of making the playoffs.  I have not looked at the individual schedules of the teams we are competing against, but here are their odds.

Phillies.........34.5%
Padres........ 25.6%
Mets............ 6.7%
Cards.......... 5.7%

The Cards are only one game behind us in the loss column so they must have a pretty tough schedule remaining.

It'd be a shame if they didn't play well down the stretch. They need Winker to heal up.

Last year the team was terrible.  The ONLY thing they did right was get hot at the end of the season.

Gutierrrez was a huge part of Reds Hot Streak, but now he has gone real Cold last couple weeks. That is bad news for Reds who need Pitching down The Stretch to make The Play-Offs.

Right...Reds now chasing Padres, with Reds in the mix with Cardinals, Phillies, maybe Braves if Phillies catch Braves.

LABOR DAY...One of those days you want to Win.  Opening Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day

Gray on the mound, and as I've said, The Reds are not going to do Jack if Gray and Castillo don't get a lot HOTTER down the stretch than the way they were most of the season.  They did not live up to The Hype in 2021, but they could pitch Reds into play-offs, IF THEY GET HOT REST OF SEASON.

Reds have Miley on the mound and he has Stunk lately. Reds need Miley to turn it around. Reds need to WIN TODAY to have a chance to Win this Cubs Series and Stay In The Hunt for Play-Offs.
