The Vikings Blitz 2 linebackers on that play. Mixon chipped the looping linebacker on the right (defensive left) but XSF was able to double the NT with Hopkins then peel off onto that same linebacker. On the left (defensive right) the weak side edge defender fell off into zone coverage and both Williams and and Spain doubled defensive tackle. Vigil timed up and excellent blitz right through the gap Spain just vacated.
The more I look at it i think you're right it's on Mixon chipping and then running a route instead of getting Vigil in pass pro...of course that could mean it was also on Hopkins and Burrow for not recognizing the Vigil blitz or not communicating it correctly.

But their ratings on D confirmed the eye test, that our DT play was fantastic. Hill, Reader, and Tupou in the top 5 squares with what I saw. Thought Ogunjobi was also good.
Our weakest spots continue to be Head Coach and IOL. Apple was rotten for a stretch in this one as well. Hope Waynes is back soon.
Even by the grades, that's false.
Hopkins is not, "IOL," he's a C. Our weakness (yesterday, anyways) was C, not, "IOL."

Burrow: 69.7 (missed a wide open TD & they dropped a pick). (75.1)
Mixon: 80.3 (65.3)
Chase: 77.9 (n/a)
Higgins: 76.6 (75.9)
Boyd: 65.2 (75.8)
Uzomah: 68.1 (58.8)
Jonah: 73.0 (70.1)
Spain: 79.7 (56.7)
Hopkins: 36.3 (63.8)
XSF: 59.6 (59.1).
Reiff: 62.2 (71.4)
Sample: not rated (61.4)
Perine: 57.4 (76.7)
Thomas: 57.6 (55.2)
That was tipped by a DL, so that shouldn't be considered as strongly.

So hard to judge these type of plays. Hard to know who it was on. Would have to hear from the players.

Yeah, our Guards played good especially Spain.

Of course Hopkins is an interior offensive lineman. He's a C. Interior offensive line is guards and centers. Geez, that is pedantic. Our two lowest rated offensive starters were two of our 3 IOLs. So yes, that is a problem.
Did not see the tip on the Alexander dropped pick. But unless it changed the direction of the throw a ton, it was a terrible throw, right to him. One of two Burrow had on the day.

Not pendatic though; stating that the IOL was weak, lumps in X-man and Spain as well, but both were far from poor.
Anyways, I'll lay off.

They weren’t far from poor. Then again, they weren’t far from great.
They were ok. Which is ok.
Hopkins drags that interior unit down though

Front 7 played pretty Well! DT is arguably the strength of the team!

Hurt Burrow's rating but not really the team. They scored a touchdown on that drive anyway.

I’m gonna go back and watch the game but I’m pretty sure all of Mixon’s big runs came in 1st/2nd and 10 situations and longer.
Very unsuccessful with the 3rd and short type runs
Which would mean that run game isn’t as good as it should be

He had 127 and 4.5 average with a TD. He is the leading rusher this week. What more do you want? ?

Well, he did pick up a few firsts before it got to 3rd down, so there's that. There's room for improvement to be sure, but overall, I'd say game 1 was better than any game last year besides Jax.

Likely the FedEx player of the week on the ground.

I get it
But 3rd/4th in short, the team was awful running the ball
There’s mainly good, but the bad is glaring.
Need to win those short yardage situations
