We worked out a long term deal before he played under the tag.  It was after the '04 season when Rudi had broken the Bengals single season rushing record.  We had used a first round pick in '04 on Chris Perry, but he missed his rookie season due to injury.  Instead of counting on Perry to return and be our #1 we worked out a five year deal for Rudi.  He only lasted 3 years before being released.
