So he's great against the run and average rushing the passer.

And that's a bad thing?

Just ignore the Hubbard haters.  Trolls like to target the OSU players because they think they will get more people stirred up.

And here I was thinking someone's wife must scream Hubbard's name during sex or something..... Ninja  So much unwarranted hate towards the guy from a couple of people.

To be fair, some people don't think DEs even have to play against the run.

This is a league dominated by passing. The numbers
Back that up. Your highest paid DEs in the NFL
Are paid on their ability to create havoc on the other teams QB
Why you think the Bengals paid Trey Hendrickson
So much money in FA?
For for his ability to stop the run?
Why is Myles Garrett paid so much....?

I dont hate Sam Hubbard. But a DE that is better
Run stopper than pass rusher then becomes
A non factor when it's time to make the QB
Uncomfortable and the game is on the line.
Hubbard sack production has really took a dip
Since his rookie year.
Why is,that?

The DEs that are highly coveted out of college
They are known for disruption of the comfort
Level of the QB. Not for their run stoppage.

If Sam can finish off the QB then it is,only
A plus for this defense going foward
If he cant then its only hurts this defense

Possibly.  Wyatt Ray has outplayed him but also gotten more opportunities.  Wish we could see Hodge just go wild on pass downs.  Guy looked really twitchy in preseason.

This just is not true unless you claim that Lawson was "hurting our defense" with all the pressure he created last year.

He is tied for 35th in pressures.

You can't call that a "non-factor".

Wait, now I'm confused. I thought the mantra was you cannot win in the AFCN unless you can run the ball. And so, if that's true, then doesn't it equate that to win in the AFCN you have to be able to stop the run? And if you have to stop the run,  isn't having a great run stopping DE the best way to do this? And isn't doing things the best way you can do them the American way? Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not going to sit here and listen you you badmouth the United States of America!!!!

I think neutralizing the other teams passing game
Is more priority than stopping their run game in this era of the NFL.
How many run stuffing DTs go before pass rushing DTs in the draft. ?
Last week Hunt and Chubb ran for over 200 yd
Vs the Chargers and still lost.
Why?
Run games are important but not like it was 10 20 yrs ago.

Fred that is average at best. Does he or does he not
Show up with a big time play when this defense
Needs of the most.
Turner from G.B shut him down last week
I mean his PFF grade was low for a reason

Top 5 teams in rushing
5.) Bills
4.) Ravens
3.) Titans
2.)Cowboys
1.) Browns
All 5 of those teams are championship caliber teams. Also two out of three are in our division.
With that being said I agree stoping the pass is more important in today's NFL but stopping the run is still important.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

They lost because no one played defense in that game.

The Chargers are a great team, and might be the 2nd best offense in the AFC behind the Bills.

Most weeks Cleveland has won running the ball.

Great news, was waiting for this.

Kareem looked great at Training Camp and in the Preseason at both rushing the passer and stopping the run.

Hopefully he comes in and continues that play, he looked dominant.
