It's taking Browns fans longer than I expected to start talking about this critical division game. They're a bit distracted though by the OBJ nonsense. Heh. Some of these threads are quite short, but you can still snoop around their other threads if you want to see what else is going on with these Clevelanders. Their forums look... a lot like this one. Nobody can chill coming out of an L. We're all lunatics.

I think the browns play better when OBJ isnt playing. So I expect Hooper to start seeing some targets after being quiet all season long

Expect heavy doses of passes to the RBs and
TEs in the direction of Logan Wilson who has allowed
38 catches on 47 throws.
Cincy should win but it could be a very.close game
As it always is.

We're going to get bombed to death because the defense will only concentrate on short passes/quick dumps all game long and be fooled by play-action.

I never understood why OBJ was still there with the two headed rushing attack and the way they use their TEs. Just seems like as others said, they do better without the distraction of OBJ. Landry is a better fit for what they do.

I would prefer that vs. middle short stuff we can't defend. I'm really curious how Lou will prepare for this game. Hopefully damn well since it's obvious he's been focused on them for a week already. Ninja

Would still love to know how the Jets exposed our kryptonite while even Green Bay and Baltimore didn’t. Crazy.

We have been exposed and will need to put up 40/game now.

We are the Chiefs 2.0 all of a sudden.

Hope the Bengals have a good plan for protecting Joe.

If I remember correctly the Browns were pretty mediocre at the beginning last year until OBJ was injured and then they went in a tear. They’re better off without him.

I wouldn’t say that. An anomaly is not a trend. If it continues to happen, then yes, we can be concerned. We were the only NFL team not to give up more than 25 in a game prior to that.

Any evidence that they are watching us watch them?

Because the same guy did it to Lou for San Francisco when we played them in 2019.

Quote:now that the "Drama queen" is pretty much not gonna play, everyones prediction should be that we win in a blowout and baker tosses 375 yards and 4 TD's

Pretty good take, tbh.

The Browns were 5-2 with OBJ last year, 6-3 without.

Browns are 14-15 with Beckham, 7-4 without Beckham.

I'm not sure having Beckham makes them better because when he is in the game, he is a distraction, doubly so if he doesn't get what he deems his fair share of targets. Even if he's not open. So it leads to them forcing it to him, even if the run game is killing it.

He is only catching 53.5%/50.0% of his targets the last two years, and he's only getting 2.0 YAC/2.8 YAC over that time span, too. In comparison, Landry has been at 71.3%/66.7% completion and 4.7 YAC/6.4 YAC over that same time span.

I am not a huge OBJ fan but these stats about him are inaccurately interpreted. They as a team played better after OBJ just due to more time together. Baker started playing better last year as the season went on and he had a pretty obvious upward trend. OBJ's lower catch rate is due to his role in being the vertical threat on the offense. He usually runs the corner/go/post route off playaction while Landry plays more underneath.

For never more than 14.0 YPC in 3 years? Also for a pathetically small 2.0 and 2.8 YAC the last two years? That's a pretty poor vertical threat and 50.0% is just an awful completion rate even if you are a team's vertical threat.

Combine that with the huge distraction he (and now his family) are creating and the fact that he's only played 16 games in 2 out of 18 years? Dude's not worth it. Addition by subtraction.

I said several weeks ago to start expecting the Browns to start Browning as soon as OBJ got back. He just messes with the team chemistry. He can't stand taking a back seat to Landry.
