Sports Illustrated does feature story on Bengals O-line guru

This weeks issue (Nov 2) of Sports Illustrated has a long story singing the praises of Paul Alexander.

Good to see him finally getting the recognition he deserves.

The story has a lot of interesting comments on the pass blocking technique Alexander teaches, and how it is different from pretty much every other NFL team. But they also point out that in the 8 years since PFF started ranking offensive lines the Bengals rank number one in the league is pass protection. And they have been very consistent ranking in the top six in the league every year but one.


Also talks about the blocking sled that Alexander invented called the Rogers Lev sled. It is a complicated blocking sled with pads that can be lifted to help players learn to drive with their hips. And it is now used by most other teams.
