It kills me to say it . . . Steelers.

They are built for December and January football. Run the ball and defense. It's not how you're playing now, it's how in sync your team is two months from now.

The Bengals are good, but not there yet. They don't have the o-line to compete with the big dogs yet. They need to be able to get that push in short yardage if they're going to be fighting with playoff teams and pretty much every playoff team can get after the QB. Such a waste to extend Mixon and do almost nothing to the poor o-line.

Since they've drafted Mixon
2017 Mixon 2nd rd
2017 C JJ Dielman 5th - never took a snap
2018 C Billy Price 1st - NY Giant
2018 G Rod Taylor 7th - never took a snap
2019 T Jonah Williams - meh. Not a disaster but not a force, either. Still has missed(22) more than he's played so far(19).
2019 G Michael Jordan - never developed, gone
2020 T Hakeen Adeniji 6th - Shown flashes but still very raw. Signed XSF
September 2nd, 2020, re-sign Mixon. Later picked up Spain
2021 G Jackson Carman 2nd - A work in progress, too early to tell.
2021 T D'ante Smith 4th - project
2021 C Trey Hill - very raw project that, at times, looks like an NFL Europe level player.

Reds fans watched the lack of attention to the bullpen ruin their 2021 season and feared the same thing was coming with the O-line. We're only halfway through this season, and, so far, the o-line isn't quite the disaster the the Reds bull pen was, but they are by far and away the weakest position group on this team.

The Steelers currently have the 28th ranked o-line in the NFL...and worst in the division.

The Steelers are one of the heavier passing teams. The throw the ball 62% of the team, good for 10th in the league. They also absolutely stink at running the ball. They are 28th in success rate, 27th in yards per carry, 17th in EPA per rush. They even suck at running the ball in short yardage situations, 29th in success rate when they run in short yardage situations. Pretty bad all around.

Hopefully, we win one of our final AFCN match ups, but I have a hard time believing we sweep the Steelers or the Ravens. And, after that beating we just got from the Browns, it'd be silly to predict a win in week 18.

I do think we'll beat the Raiders, 49ers and Broncos though. I have a hard time seeing us outduel Herbert or Mahomes, so that leaves us at 3-5 in the 2nd half.

Maybe we sneak one of the 5 games to finish 4-4 and tie for 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the North though :). Our division record may even get us to 2nd place in that case.

just throwing this out there for your predictions. Big Ben has been placed on the COVID list. He is out for this week and possibly the Chargers game as well

Based on what I have seen thus far (but we all know how things can flip on a dime), I think the division is Cleveland's.  They seem to have galvanized after getting rid of OBJ.  I think they have one of the easier schedules as well as the most well-rounded team.  I am still not a big Baker fan, but that team is a lot like the 2015 Bengals.  Great offense and solid defense.   I hope I'm wrong, but if I had to put money on one team to win the AFC North, it is Cleveland.

I actually see the Bengals finishing 2nd.  The fact that the Dolphins beat the Rats makes me doubt them even more.  Their offense is still reliant on one guy so much that when teams find a way to limit him, they struggle, and their defense has a lot of holes.

Should the Bengals win in Vegas (oh, please!) they have only two of their remaining 7 games after that on the road.

I also believe so much in Joe Burrow.  He wasn't awful in the Cleveland game, but made a couple bad mistakes and the defense's ability to get any stops turned in to a feeding frenzy on him.  He will bounce back.  He is amazing.

pittsturd is an absolute fraud.  Other than a couple great players on defense, they aren't going to threaten.

Browns 11-6
Bengals 10-7
Rats 9-8
steelers 7-10

I looked at the betting line and it changed by just 1 point after it was announced that Piggy had swine flu, er, Covid.

Their backups aren't good, but they are much more mobile with a better arm at this point.  I was really hoping Piggy would play against Detroit.  I have a sneaky suspicion that the Lions were going to get their first win....even with Pig Jen at the controls.

At least what I saw of the steelers the few times I have watched them, they aren't really running the ball with success.  They throw to their RB a TON and have no downfield threat, but they do have a solid defense.

The observations about offensive linemen drafted is fair, but at least they acknowledged those mistakes and signed Quinten Spain and Riley Reiff from outside as solid pieces.  The key now is to have no glaring weak spots on the line, but so far Hopkins has been a pretty poor reflection of the solid guy he was pre-injury.

I have all the AFCN teams within a game of each other practically.

My outlook on the Bengals is admittedly influenced by recency bias and is hopefully a worst case scenario.

I don't think the AFCN is really all that. Browns are probably best on paper right now. Ravens would be if half their team wasn't on IR. Pittsburgh is kind of hamstrung by their QB. Cincy is still a few pieces away.

Future of the division looks bright, but right now it's a pretty middling group that looks competitive because they're all beating up on one another.

I still think the Bengals or the Ravens win the division. I really don't see Mayfield lasting the rest of the season with his shoulder issues, and face it, Fat Jen is looking for an excuse not to play these days. Before the covid, he said he had what, 3 injuries? Even if they last the season, I think the Bengals come off the bye reinvigorated and with all the home games left rack up a bunch of wins.

It pains me to say it but the Browns are built for Dec-Jan . Best Oline in football with arguably the best down hill back Iv eseen in a while (aside from Henry)  in Chubb. Also, with the OBJ disraction gone, Baker M will likely start playing much better.
Then theres the D and Garrett, Clowney, Ward, Houston etc.

As for Steelers: I think Ben is on his last legs and will eventually make too many mistakes to keep them from winning the Div

As for Balt: I think teams are really starting to figure out how to stop Lamar J. Once you do that, its over for them.

As for Cincy: hard to say at this point. if they play like they did a few weeks ago, I think they have a great chance of finishing in top 2.
