It all started with the Von Bell hit on Juju Smith-Schuster on December 21, 2020.
To that point the Cincinnati Bengals were 5-23-1 in the Zac Taylor era. Things weren’t looking good for the future. The dental filling-jarring hit Von Bell put on Juju Smith-Schuster changed the course of history in Cincinnati because, since that hit, the Bengals have gone 9-5-0.
This hit was life changing for the team and the organization and Von Bell should be a Bengal legend.
Remember the 1985 movie “Back to the Future” where George McFly was the town wimp? Remember Biff, the town bully? For decades the Cincinnati Bengals were the NFL equivalent of George McFly and the Steelers, of course, were Biff. Biff slept in on Sundays and even made George do his homework.
At the Enchantment Under the Sea school dance George had enough, saw Ben — OOPS! I mean Biff — molesting his girl, and punched Biff’s lights out. It changed George McFly’s life.
So it was with Von Bell. The Bengals haven’t been the NFL’s punching bag since last December. Let’s never go back.
