2011 redux

2011....Coming off of 4 win season. Gets off to hot 5-2 start. Goes into 2-4 slump ending with heartbreaking loss at home on TD pass on last play of game. Looks to be falling out of playoff race. Has to win next week on road trip far from home (Rams)

I'm afraid to look if TJ Yates is still in the league.

I'd bet anything he's not... Only the Bengals lose twice to that bumb..

Edit: TJ Yates is the passing game coordinator with the Falcons..

Your memory or research ability on stuff like this always amazes me Fred!

Good post. And this team is much better than the 2011 team.

I’d agree that 2021 is better than the 2020 team. I do think we’re in a similar position as far as development goes though. Both had young stars. This team still has lots of room for improvement and is just cracking open the window for its next multi-year competitive run. 2022, 2023 and 2024 teams should be a lot of fun to watch regardless of how this season ends.

2011 was actually worse as they went 6-2 before turning it into 1 and 4. Also got swept by the steelers and Ravens in 2011

Another fun fact about 2011, anytime they lost, they lost two in a row.

week 2 and 3

week 10 and 11

week 13 and 14

and finally week 17 and playoffs.

And both teams were extremely young.

From a player standpoint? Probably.

Vastly inferior coaching, though.

Head coach won Coach of the Year Award in '09. Both coordinators got head coaching jobs (Gruden, Zimmer).  Three position coaches got coordinator jobs (Paul Guenther, Kevin Coyle, Ken Zampese).

Well we won just like we did in '11.

Let's hope the pattern continues and we make the postseason.
