CLASSIC ROCK FANS , What Song Puts You in Mind of This Season's Bengals
#1
I was born in the 60's , grew up in the 70's , became an adult in the 80's. I love classic rock music- the music that I grew up with. I think that era was the best music ever made. I got to thinking about songs from that era that would best reflect the same aura, mystique,  personality, vibe, whatever the hell you wanna call it for this '21-22 Bengals' team and Bengals' season. When you think of the '90 Reds and the Nasty Boys you think of "You Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer.  What about our Bengals this season?   What song would you give to this team?

I am going to focus mainly on seventies and eighties rock, because that's what I grew up on but feel free to list a song from any genre you would like.

In a previous thread I mentioned that I feel there is a strange, almost magical, quality to this team and this season. I grew up loving the Electric Light Orchestra, and their hit "Strange Magic" really struck a chord with me. The song really does have a mystical, almost supernatural feel to it, as does this Bengals' team.  So I will list it as my first song.

Btw, the video has some beautiful pics of the Northern Lights(Aurora Borealis), if you into that thing like I am. Thanks in advance for your input.

I look forward to listening to your song picks.

One of my all-time favorite songs. It has always had a special meaning for me. I couldn't count the times that I would lie in bed at night listening to this song and thinking about all the possibilities for my life. When I listen to this song, which has its own mystical, dreamy quality, I imagine by body drifting among the stars and believing that anything is possible.

Enjoy...   Jefferson Starship. "MIRACLES, " sung by the late, great Marty Balin .

I don't like the Beatles, but I really think you can put this season down as a " magical mystery tour".

One win away... It's okay to be greedy now.    I love the Queen songs.   I think we know which Queen song we want to be hearing next Sunday evening.

Hopefully it's the one you're thinking of and not " under pressure ".

There's a New Kid in Town, Los Angeles...

There's talk on the street it sounds so familiar

Great expectations everybody's watching you

People you meet they all seem to know you

Even your old friends treat you like you're something new

Johnny come lately

The new kid in town

Everybody loves you

So don't let them down

Since I was born in 1970 I am definitely an ‘80s kid when it comes to classic rock.

There are two songs from this era which remind me of the 2021-22 Cincinnati Bengals. The first is “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John from 1983 because no one expected the Bengals to get this far. Also, I believe this song especially applies to Joe Burrow, Larry Ogunjobi, and now CJ Uzomah as they recover from injury.

The next song went through my head all through the playoffs as it is basically an elimination tournament: “Sole Survivor” by Asia from 1982. Are these lyrics perfect for the Bengals or what?

And from the wreckage I will arise
Cast the ashes back in their eyes
See the fire I will defend
Just keep on burning right to the end

Love Asia,   FiK .   They were a great '80's band.  Very underrated.

I've already used this line in a few posts welcoming in new fans in this Super Bowl run.

The 1980's were a while back. Now I did like the 5 straight play-off seasons with Dalton to Green from 2011 to 2015, but they did end in One and Done, but I still respect the 5 winning years in a row.

Still, Bengals changed Coaches and Players starting 2019. I'm now thinking some Front Office changes, which I said I would believe it when I see a better team on the field. 2019 was NEW DAY instead of WHO DEY. NEW DAY was NEEDED. Fans who thought NEW DAY would start with Wins right away were silly. Per Paul Brown in 1968, he said it takes a few years to become a good team and don't expect much the first few years. So I applied that to 2019 and 2020.

So this is NEW DAY and a whole NEW BENGALS. IT WAS NEEDED. Over 30 years without a play-off win. It was time to make Changes across the board from Front Office to all Coaches to All Players. So with THE NEW BENGALS, and Old FANS getting use to the changes and stop asking for old Marvin players and coaches back because it ain't happening. With NEW FANS jumping on The Bengals Bandwagon due to Super Bowl.

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK, WE SALUTE YOU. .....The old AC/DC song. As an old rock fan watching young teens at AC/DC for maybe their first concert ever as I once did as a teen, I got it. Of course at my age when I was a teen, rock bands were cavemen and they used real rocks. Then they invented the wheel, and we had Rock and Roll. Then we invented Fire so that audiences could wave Fire for the cavemen to come back on stage and throw a couple more rocks. That was then and this is now. Be in new concerts of teen fans or Football of new fans, it's still the same. On BENGALS NEW DAY, as AC/DC would sing, FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK, WE SALUTE YOU.

So Welcome to The Jungle all you young new Bengals Fans, and FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK, WE SALUTE YOU.....WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE.....I guess Both Songs Fit.

As for Rock, I hope The Rolling Stones have quit. I don't want to see them so old they come out on power wheel chairs, and they literally are indeed The ROLLING Stones.

Now on 1920's, 1930's 1940's 1950's type music, I recommend Tiger Rag by The Mills Brothers from Piqua Ohio. There are many versions of Tiger Rag, often without words as Dixieland Jazz. However you can go on YouTube and probably find a very old 1930's version of The Mills Brothers on Tiger Rag, as they sing Hold That Tiger. The Mills Brothers were great, and they are worth a listen. I like them doing Be My Life's Companion, where they sing " Sad as it can be, He's old at 33 ". TIGER RAG by Mills Brothers is a fun song. I also like Glow Worm, Cab Driver, these Cats could Sing.
