Kenneth Bednarek, winner of 200 meter silver medal in the '20 Olympics, worked out for Bengals WR coach Troy Walters last week.

In 2018 Bednarek was playing high school football in Rice Lake Wisconsin. Walters was the Offensive Coordinator at Nebraska and recruited Bednarek.  Bednarek could not qualify for any Division I school so he went to Indian Hills Community College where he concentrated on track.  Within a year he went pro with a big contract from Nike.  But apparently Walters made quite an impression because he was the first NFL coach Bednarek's agent contacted.

Bedarek is 6'2", 185 lbs.  He was a receiver and return specialist in high school.  He is still just 23 and currently ranked number 1 in the world at 200 meters.

His nick name is Kung Fu Kenny because he wears a "Rambo-like bandana"

Looks like this guy is the opposite. Only got into track cause his community college didn't have a football team.

I'm all for letting him try out, but this guy hasn't played football since high school.

Why not?  You can't coach speed.  Paul Brown gave Tommie Smith a shot back in the day.  That was after Bob Hayes became a star for the Cowboys.  It doesn't happen often but it can.

Bill Walsh knew a little bit about WRs and he signed Renaldo Nehemiah who held the Worl Record for the 110 Meter Hurdles.

He did not play much (43 receptions over 3 seasons), but we won a ring with one of the greatest teams in history.  Th '84 Niners went 15-1 then blew out everyone in the postseason.
