TE to watch for 2024 draft - Brock Bowers, Georgia

While I know he needs to play 2 more seasons, Brock Bowers performed extremely well as a true freshman at Georgia last year.
56 receptions for 886 yards, 13 TDs.
When seeing him in action, you can see an above average receiver when it comes to TE position, and he is rather fast and fluid for being 6'4", 230 lbs.

Hopefully he bulks up some into that 240-250 range over the next two seasons, but I'm impressed so far.

Yep I like Mayer and also Laporta from Iowa for 2023 draft.
But if Bengals don't land a TE1 on a multi-year contract in 2023, I'd think Bowers could fit that role in 2024.

Nice, forgot about Laporta for a minute. Like him just the same. 

This might be the position we will be looking at big time in the next 2 Drafts.

Especially if we don't bring back Hurst and don't draft a TE early in 2023.

It would be stupid of him not to come out.

He'll easily be the be best tight end coming out and another year in school would only be risking injury.

I'm a bit surprised Laporta didn't enter the 2022 draft.
He put up 53 rec for 670 yards and 3 TDs last season.
He's already the requisite size at 6'4", 249 lbs.

It was a weak TE draft class, so I think he would have gone probably Rd 2.
Past successful TEs from Iowa also help give confidence in Laporta - Kittle, Hockenson, Fant.

Awesome, maybe Laporta just wanted to finish college first, some smart dudes are like that.

Plus maybe he thinks he can do a lot more then that production wise. He is very talented like all the guys you mention. 3 TD's
isn't much. I am sure he wants to put up at least 5 or so this next season. Prove that he is a RZ threat, that is what we need.

Hopefully Hurst is the answer, could be, dude looks buff out there and gelling with Burrow already.

Darnell Washington is the Georgia TE getting the 1st round hype right now but I'm betting he goes in the 2nd round. He's 6'7 280lbs atheltic, blocks like a Tackle, and can catch.

Those measurements are special.  He may go before Mayer.  There is a whisper out there concerning Mayer's foot speed.

Maybe but I would be looking hard at a TE in this draft, we need a decent one sooner than later

I think a 4.6 at his size would be phenomenal. He just seems to play so slow when I watch him.

if we were drafting right now..Id go edge rusher rd 1 (assuming there is one worth that pick?) then look at TE in rd2 and maybe another TE later

Neither Michael Mayer or Darnell Washington aren't explosive athletes but they are physical and play helmet and up. Washington's athletic profile is better than Mayer but Mayer the offense at Notre Dame runs through him. These are your all round tight ends not those explosive receiving only TEs people are in love with... Mayer and Washington will be great for the run and screen game blocking, an outlet receiver, and red-zone threats.

Think Zach Ertz or TJ Hockenson with these guys.

And Waller coming out of college was originally a WR, not a TE.
He flamed out pretty quickly in BAL before converting to TE with the Raiders.
