Another Bengal related feature article in Sports Illustrated......Eifert
#1
This weeks edition (Nov 16) of Sports Illustrated has a feature article, "End Game", on Tyler Eifert. Nothing much new to Bengal fans, but good to see him getting some nationals recognition for leading the league in td receptions.

Lots of discussion about the string of different injuries he has suffered. How he had surgery on both the elbow and the shoulder this offseason. How when his elbow was dislocated it was bent backwards on the field and the muscle was shredded. He said it was like "ground meat". That is why it took so long to heal. They couldn't just stitch the muscle back together. They had to immobilize it and let it grow back together.

He gives Huber and his wife a lot of credit for taking care of him. He lived with them after he had both of the surgeries when he needed a lot of help with just simple everyday tasks. He lost 15 lbs because he could not lift weights for so long.

Finally they point out that Eifert not only leads the league in receiving tds, but that all 9 have come when the Bengals were in the red zone. They say he is the biggest reason the Bengals are 2nd in the league in td percentage in the red zone.

That's really cool about Huber. He has made an amazing recovery physically and perhaps just as importantly, he doesn't play tentative at all. He is not afraid of re-injury.

Also said that he had some swelling back in August that concerned him. I guess that was when he was first cleared for football activity or something like that. Anyway he said that is when he went back to wearing the elbow brace all the time, and there have been no more problems since then.

That brace looks bulky, but it doesn't seem to limit him in any way.

Didn't know that about Huber, that was cool of the dude to hep a guy out.

I hope we don't have to hear about injury history ever again with Eifert. Great player for this team and one of my favorites.

Goes up for the ball like a Wideout and runs like one too. With his size that is crazy hard for Defenses to stop.

I read that article while sitting and waiting getting the oil changed in the truck yesterday.

I like when Eifert said something along the lines of not being able to view the pictures of his elbow injury at first but now he has them on his phone and shows them off, lol. He said people don't see the injury at first until he points out how his arm is bent the wrong way.

The training staff has worked on it. Eifert said early in the season that he had trouble bringing the ball to his chest because the brace restricted his movement.

Anyone think the running joke in the locker room might be "who get's Eifert this month?" He lived with Whit and his family when he was drafted, and Huber and his family after the surgeries. Tyler Eifert... #2 TE in the NFL.....#1 roommate in the NFL...... Hilarious

Thank you for posting this. Reading second hand accounts of a second hand account is actually less fun than previous posters might think.
