Rank our CBs
#1
For the next group we move back to the Defense and rank our CBs. The projected top 3 are: Awuzie, Apple, and Hilton, So were we got AHA? For the record we had them mid-pack last year and had a big debate on what equals a #1CB.

This one is a pretty easy top 6.

Again it is really hard for me to rank the teams because I recognize less than half of these players listed.

I know that last year we struggled with pass defense (26th yards, 18th passer rating) despite getting decent pressure on the QB.  But I don't know exactly how to parse the blame.  Hilton and Awuzie seemed to play well.  Apple struggled early in the year, but played better later in the season. And, of course, safeties and LBs also contribute to pass coverage.  For example, in that Jets nightmare that was almost all short stuff underneath the CBs.

I actually feel pretty good about our top 3 CBs.  I like Taylor-Britt also, but he may not play a lot as a rookie if the top 3 stay healthy.  He will still play enough to have an impact.  I'd guess we play 4 CBs at least 10-15 snaps a game.

Just guessing I would rank them 10-15 in the league.  I will take the positive approach and vote on the top end of that at 7-12

I think our defense will improve from last season, especially the first half of the season. Most of the D is still intact another year in the system. I could see them coming in top 12.

7-12. Awuzie is very underrated around the league (except by PFF), and Hilton is one of the best slot guys there is. If we get good Apple instead of rotten Apple it’s a very good unit.

I’m also not ruling out CTB taking that #2 spot in camp.

I think our cbs are right in the middle in the 12-16 range. Awuzie is good, Hilton is very solid, apple had a solid late season last year but I want to see more consistency from him, and ctb is a complete unknown. So going 13-19.

Awuzie and Hilton are top 10 Outside CB and Slot CB, respectively, at least if we believe PFF's grades (Awuzie was the top rated CB in the entire AFC last year). Apple, however, is inconsistent and can be gotten at the worst times (but can also make some of the best plays at the right time, like the Hill tackle against KC).

I don't know a lot of other team's #2 and #3 CBs because there are too many to keep track of, but I'd find it hard to believe that more than 6 teams have a top 10 RCB and SCB so I'll say we're top 6. Worst case, we're 7-12.

Looking at the listings, I'd say ATL, BAL, BUF, GBP, LAC and CLV are up there with us. LAR and MIA are up there too, but are more 1 elite CB rather than a pair or trio of good CBs.

Guess I am not as high on these guys as you all...

I think this unit is about as average as you can get with zero proven depth.

With the additions of Daxton Hill and CTB on top of Awuzie, Hilton and Apple I think we can be top 5.

But this is based on potential. Awuzie was great last season, only got burnt by AJ Brown pretty much. Hilton is like the
best Slot Corner in the NFL, Apple is talented just needs to get more consistent. I vote around 6th like Rfaulk said.
