Boy, the game sure has changed. In 5 games Ja'marr Chase has 44 receptions on 60 targets
That ties him for 107th for the most catches in a season by a Bengal with . . .
1972 Bob Trumpy - 12 games - 12 starts
1975 Isaac Curtis - 14 - 14
1987 Eddie Brown - 12 - 12 . . . strike year
1990 Eddie Brown - 14 - 12 . . . also in 1990 . . . Tim McGee 43 catches in 16 games - 15 starts
1993 Tony McGee - 15 - 15

Upcoming notables
1973 Isaac Curtis - 45 catches in 14 games - 14 starts
1994 Darnay Scott - 46 catches in 16 - 12
2018 AJ Green - 46 catches in 9 - 9
1978 Isaac Curtis 47 catches in 16 - 16
2020 AJ Green 47 catches in 16 - 14
1982 Cris Collinsworth 49 catches in 9 - 9 . . . strike year - Pro Bowl season
1989 Rodney Holman 50 catches in 16 - 15 - Pro Bowl season

This one kills me
2000 Peter Warrick 51 catches in 16 - 16
51 catches on 126 targets.
Burrow/Chase would have to sink to 7 for their next 66 attempts to match that level of ineptitude.
Only users lose drugs.

In case anyone forgot.... 266 is more yardage than Mahomes threw for in week 17 of 2021.
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

A lot of those were in the red zone too.

Coming into Sunday, the 9ers were 0-25 under Shanahan when trailing by five or more points going into the fourth quarter. Make that 0-26. Cool

That is a crazy stat that is almost hard to believe.  Not one comeback 5+ points down going into the 4th? Crazy for sure.

I couldn't believe it either, especially with how good they've been the last few years.

My theory is this, Shanahan's system has always hidden the deficiencies of his starting QB's who have for the most part all be average to below average. In the 4th quarter when trailing the system that is built on the running game and PA is far less effective because teams are playing pass and forcing these mediocre QB's to beat them throwing nearly every play. This stat isn't actually a negative to Shanahan but rather it shows how impressive his system is in taking these QB's and putting them in positions to actually win as much as they do. Everyone points out Jimmy G and Purdy, but before that there were stops with guys like Nick Mullens and CJ Bethard who they were actually competent with...because of this system.

I got beat up a lot for telling people to look at Nick Mullins before the bottom dropped out and compare his stats to Purdy at the end of last year, they were eerily similar.
