Make it make sense.

PFF is trash.  If this doesn't prove that point nothing will.

Yea, to me, those numbers are way too similar to the Falcons numbers.

Keep in mind that Mariota had a 118.4 passer rating.

Also, there were more than a few plays where the Bengals just made great plays and were covered well. The Chase TD, Tyler Boyd with the one handed catch, and the twisting back shoulder catch, etc. I would guess that goes into grading?

Said this in another thread but as good as the one handed catch was that twisting back shoulder catch was just as sick.

Boyd is so sure handed it's crazy and nobody could have blamed him one bit if either were dropped.

Not that the passes were bad because they were money too. Especially since Joe had a LB'er getting ready to tee off on him on the one handed grab.

Yet still the catches were just as amazing.

Yes, it does.  There is a universe where a player may have played a really good game, as much as you could ask of him, but the guy/guys on the other side just played that much better.  Alternatively, as an example, a defensive back may play poorly but for whatever reason the offense fails to take advantage of it.  That defensive back didn't have a great day just because it wasn't exploited.  He just got lucky.

Man I’m ngl idk why we look at these stats anymore

The Falcons DB rated similar to ours and they gave up 500 yards.

The stat is useless

It's not a simple thing about yards. Boyd ran through a zone and 1 guy fell down to allow the TD. Chase's TD down the right sideline was a perfect throw over 2 defenders that were right on him and his other TD was a relatively short throw that he outran everyone to the EZ.

As far as "similar", the Falcons had a couple guys that graded well. A safety, Terrell who only played 6 snaps and a corner who had an "average" grade. The 4 other DBs had below average grades. The Bengals had 4 DBs that graded average to above. The Bengals 4 DBs that graded below average had a total of 23 combined coverage snaps.

I'm not defending the grades because i've come to rely less and less on them to be as accurate as what i'm watching but it's not really true that the Falcons were graded similarly.
