Patriots reporter hoping Mac can channel some Burrow.

Interesting piece, Joe has certainly proven himself to be upper tier on so many levels.

It's physically impossible for a dude named MacCorkle to have a shred of Burrow's swag. Why? Because the dude's name is freaking MacCorkle. His parents must be real sadistic ********.

The biggest obstacle standing in the way of Mac being able to be measured up to Burrow equally is that he is not Joe Burrow.

there is only one Joe Cool and he plays for the Bengals

Some of these articles are funny as they miss why Burrow is as good as he is - he can put the ball into extremely exact places, is very smart and processes information very fast. Arm strength is less important than smarts and pinpoint accuracy.

the current narrative is painting Joe as an unathletic noodle arm qb who wins with his mind

Seen that a lot lately, not the strongest arm, not sure where that comes from?

i think his arm is average maybe a little better. what makes up for it is accurate and smarts. nothing wrong with that at all. montana an anderson were the same. i do worry a little at ne with with the winds though.

People are grasping at straws with the arm strength nonsense. Burrow was literally the best deep ball passer in the league last season. He obviously doesn’t have a cannon like Herbert or Allen, but he shows off plenty of arm on some of his off platform throws he makes outside the pocket.

The problem is that having a cannon arm gets the oohs and ahs but it is not as important as touch and accuracy. As long as you CAN make the throws, the ability to put the ball in a small space (like Burrow has) outweighs pure throwing power.

A strong arm primarily just allows a QB to be late and still make a play. Something Burrow rarely ever needs to rely on due to his processing and quick release. I constantly see experts bring up his mechanics, and how there’s “no wasted movement” in Burrow’s delivery.

Joe sees the field better than any QB in the NFL and has the ability to analyze it in a split second. That’s something that can’t be taught.

Mac Jones would highly benefit from having a true QB coach on the Patriots staff. Besides the 2 headed monster of Patricia and Judge coaching the offense with no clear OC which means no one is in charge. Judge who is nominally the QB coach had no experience in qb specific coaching. Yeah, he’s was a qb in college and has been a head coach but he came from coaching special teams his entire career. This has really harmed the development of Jones.

I think it comes from being in a league with physical anomalies like Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Jalen Hurts.  Those guys are on another level in terms of raw talent, especially Allen and Mahomes.  Both have generational, maybe all-time best arm talent coupled with very legit running abilities.

Existing at the same time as those guys doesn't make Burrow unathletic.  He's an elite athlete by any standard and would run circles around any quarterback we've had here.  It's just not his main skill set, and that's a good thing IMO.

Joe is the heir to Brady and Manning.  He breaks down coverages like a robot and makes the correct choice in almost every situation on the field.  He evolves past weaknesses extremely quickly and becomes more lethal every time he does.  Defenses can't take away his strength, because his strength is finding their weakness and finding it fast.

He uses athleticism when he needs it in the pocket and when defenses leave huge openings in the run game.  He definitely doesn't lean on it, because he doesn't have to.
