Nothing silly about it. What does the league do if both teams and their management say no?

We have to rely on Goodell making a good decision?

They can do wtf they want, they are the league.

Create an emergency one time only, no tie, no loss cancellation. Record it in the playoff standings mathematically as a tie but dont count it on either team's records.

In the history books the Bills and Bengals simply have 16 games played instead of 17.

That’s exactly what I thought when it first happened.

Based on what rule tho? This is uncharted territory and is a situation where they can make up the rules as they go. Regardless, how this unfolds, it will set a precedence.

They could and should.

The players had no interest in going back out on that field and I dont blame them. Their brother is fighting for his life. I dont see how the outcome of this game, if they were to play it now, would reflect the reality of these two teams. Their heads are not in it. The dude got CPR and obviously stopped breathing right in front of them. This is life and death, not a regular injury. I highly doubt anyone involved from the team level to the NFL knows how to handle this situation because this is the first. But they have to figure it out

Then why have you mentioned drugs three times? Dude, just stop. Man is seriously injured on a football field and substances is all on your mind. Not the time or place.

For a completely practical matter there are millions upon millions of dollars bet on this game. TV network contractual obligations, gambling obligations, 50,000 people who paid for tickets and on and on.. Who is going to be responsible for all the money if they stop the game?  Millions will be left up in the air.
I realize most people don't care about the money, but if you bet say...$100,000 or more on this game and it's cancelled wouldn't you be asking a few questions?

Well, technically the fans could all leave the stadium and we could all turn off our TVs and devices if we don't agree.

Christian Erickson (sp?) of Denmark collapsed on the field and they performed CPR on the field for many minutes. He survived. Denmark was forced to play the game (& lost), then rallied to make the SFs of the tournament. Erickson had a pacemaker installed and played in the World Cup.

On the other end, Hank Gathers collapsed on court for Loyala Maramount in a college game and did not survive. I have read reports of soccer players collapsing on fieldc and passing several times.

Hope we are in an Erickson type situation.
