We got hosed.
Hosed
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/07/on-monday-night-bengals-were-told-game-will-resume-in-10-minutes/

As one source explained it, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow began throwing on the sideline after the Bengals noticed that Bills receiver Stefon Diggs was trying to get his teammates appropriately motivated to continue the game.

As the Bengals prepared to continue to play, it eventually became obvious that would not happen. At least one player heard Bills coach Sean McDermott say that the Bills would not continue, even if it meant forfeiting the game.

The Bengals were willing to accommodate the Bills. One player heard Bengals coach Zac Taylor offer to resume the game on Tuesday. Bengals players generally accepted the prospect of a one-day delay.

But then the Bills left Cincinnati. Multiple Bengals players were confused by that development as it occurred. On one hand, they were sensitive to the situation involving Damar Hamlin. On the other hand, they fully realized the stakes of the game. They wanted to get it played.

They got hosed all the way around. The NFL and Bills have zero integrity, but we already knew that.

Pretty sad.  Zac showed the Bills compassion and they completely took advantage of the situation.

Why is 1 baffling? We could have lost to the Bills and been 11-6 also.

I think it's fair.

The Ravens kind of get screwed by us being declared the division winner too...should they beat us again...because we could have lost to the Bills.

Welcome CP, most knowledgeable football forum on the webs! The snow globe!  Man McDermott even used the forfeit word.  Bills leaving Cinci after Taylor did them a solid, and then the league playing it for marketing.  Bills need to get taken out.  Hopefully big Bill can get it done tomorrow.

You guys were awarded the North which also means first place schedule and lower draft pick. If the Ravens somehow win tomorrow, they get a home playoff game if they win a coinflip but not the other 2 things. Basically if they win and get the flip, they get a HUGE benefit with NONE of the downside. That's a f****d up plan guy!!!

If Taylor offered to resume Tuesday and Bills accepted and then left that needs to come out.

Who took the high road and got punished by the corrupt GODell and who took advantage of an awful situation?

No other team would have gotten screwed with coin flip since the existing rules already spell out what should happen.

NFL should be forced to publish how each team voted, who came up with this screw job idea, and who was consulted before it was announced.

Let’s face it- NFL is corrupt. We all know that. It’s about the money

Eh.  I don't blame the Bills so much as the league in this case.  The Bills made a decision (allegedly) that they were not going to play or possibly even resume the game.  Yes, that's a forfeit in techincal terms.  It's on the league to enforce the consequences of a forfeit, and they were likely nervous about what a decision like that would cause in terms of PR backlash.

The part that isn't fair is that if the Bengals would have lost to the Bills and then to the Ravens the Ravens would have won the division and all the positives and negatives that go along with it.  If the Bengals lose and lose the coin flip then the Ravens should win the division and also get the "negatives" that go along with that.  As it stands, the Ravens would get the positives and the Bengals would get the negatives.   It's complete hokey doke bs.  It's like a 2nd grader came up with this.  It's amazing if the people running the NFL are truly this stupid and incompetent.

And there were already rules addressing the damn cancelled game scenario.  JUST........FOLLOW......YOUR......OWN........RULES!!!!!!!   How effing hard is that?

I have to admit the snow globe was pretty cool and creative!    lol

According to Peter King the owners vote this way

No:
Cincinnati
Miami
Chicago

Abstentions which are essentially no votes
Buffalo
Kansas City
Las Vegas
LA Chargers

Winning makes believers of us all

So essentially the League and Baltimore are trash. Respect Buffalo and KC for abstaining. All other owners just didn’t want to piss off the league.s

Maybe before the we play the Bills, in Buffalo of course, the league will make a rule that only one WR can be in the game at one time.  Should we wait until the end of the game to see how badly that screws with our offense before complaining?

First let me say, I'm happy to hear Hamblin is turning the corner and will be OK.  However, make no mistake about it McDermott and the Bills organization played us like a fiddle.  Buffalo will now have home-field advantage over the Bengals without proving they're the better regular-season team.

Soon after the game was suspended, Twitter feeds showed Diggs talking to Buffalo media in a towel so he knew they weren't going back out.  The Bills bordered a plane and were back in Buffalo by 3am Tuesday morning and planned to milk and manipulate this situation to the fullest.  McDermott recognized the opportunity and took it; knowing he only had to beat New England in Buffalo to lock in the 2nd seed. The contest should have been forfeited and the Bengals awarded a win.
