Perhaps, but we are not gonna cut him atm. 

1) We only have 2,backs signed. 
2) We have plenty of cap space.

Unlikely to need?  They could extend Tee Higgins and use the extra 10 million from the Mixon cut to front load a new contract so Higgins cap hit will be less in his other years.

Mixon's cap number is close to 13 million this year and will be slightly over 13 million next year.   Its crazy Montgomery's 3 year deal is 18 million total

Tee's extension won't hit the cap until next year (2024). Some of the SB will, but we have $35 million in space. 

Things are not tight, at all, at the moment. If we make a bunch of signings and that number comes down, then maybe. Certainly not before June 1.

Spotrac had Montgomery's value at 7.2 million so just a touch high. RB's are not gonna get that big money anymore. I don't see many getting 10 a year for a while.

Edit: This is what I mean. He's a sports radio guy and not really an insider.

@bengals TE and Bolles School product Hayden Hurst was hoping to stay in Cincy, but got better deal with @Panthers. Cincy had future extensions with Burrow, Huggins and Wilson to consider. Plus, draft strong for TEs.
